Fidel Castro Dead

21 posts in this topic

He survived over 600 assassination attempts. Today I read that they even tried it with an exploding cigar. Who tried to kill him? Wile E. Coyote? :lols:

Anyway, surprised he made it that far. When he passed the power on to his brother in 2008, I thought it was a matter of weeks or months.

Kind of loved the guy because he stuck it to the Americans all by himself after Che Guevara pushed the revolution. A small island off the coast of the US and they couldn't handle him.

Trump said today that Castro had been a brutal dictator that had opressed his people... Maybe the fact the US had imposed sanctions and a blockade could be judged as the more real factor as to the Cuban's misery. He wanted to impose his rule as he saw it while America were banned by him from imposing themselves, their culture like they done to everyone else. Castro wasn't into McDonald's, KFC, Grits or Waffles.

RIP

Castro was a living testament of the mishandling of the situation by the United States.

CIA sponsored state terrorists in Latin America should have a special circle of hell reserved for them too (for they are many).

Or gays, other opinions, trade unions, trials before execution even.

Also Hitler stuck it to the Americans, Kim Jong Un would stick it to them given the chance, since when was sticking it to the Americans the yardstick for good leadership. Fucking hell Balon it's quite simple a dictator is a dictator no matter what the circumstances of his/her ascension to power and the problems they face during there reign, if there's suppression of opposition by force then they're not a legitimate leader. I'm sure the Cuban who braved shark infested seas on floating rafts to escape him couldn't give a pellet of poo about McDonalds. Made me laugh you have, hilarious.

Agree with FIB. As shitty as US has been, standing up against US shouldn't absolve a tyrant of his crimes.

He almost brought about a nuclear war, oppressed gays, tortured dissidents (many even disappeared) and kept his people poor. Some of threads on Twitter created by descendants of Cuban people who now live outside Cuba are shocking to read.

PS: The same goes for the other tit, Che Guevara

Nearly prompted a nuclear war? The fault is mostly on him?? Really?? You are severely underplaying the EPIC FAIL (and subsequent responsability) the USA has on the fate of Cuba since the Eisenhower administration. *Well, actually since a while before, but for the purpose of simplifying the thing to compartimentalized minds let's just stick to Fidel related things.

Balon, you love the guy because he is a galego, just like Fraga or Franco. :clown:

Castro was actually of Franco's bed time fetishes along Mao and Ho Chi Mihn, actually.

Seems to be a case of deciding who the bigger dickhead is, Fidel Castro or the American government. In that contest the American government always wins.

It all depends what story you listen to. What Cuba was before the revolution and exactly what Fidel Castro wanted for Cuba which wasn't what eventually occurred. The suffering of the Cubans has a hell of a lot to do with the sanctions imposed by the States because they didn't want Communisim on the doorstep (first and foremost) and secondly, no control whatsoever of the island. Plenty of European countries have done business with Cuba over the years and ignored those sanctions...

One thing that makes me laugh is watching all those American politicians and establishment  at the time demote Castro's vision while smoking a Montecristo or a Cohiba (curiously, something you couldn't acquire legally in the US).  :lols:

You have to love Julio! :lols:

I'm no fan of El Generalísimo, but Fraga did many good things for Spain during his period as Ambassador for Spain in London. His past was shady though.

A piece of shit, glad he's dead.

If the dictatorship in Cuba ends, the Republicans are never winning Florida again, by the way.

Castro is the hero of old socialist revolutionaries like Jeremy Corbyn who to this day still live in denial over the fact that yet another "freedom fighter", yet another cause, led to brutal human rights abuses. They peg all their hope that it will be different because the scriptures speak of social justice, equality, fairness, freedom, it never ends up that way and never will due to the psychological makeup of extreme collectivism in power. It requires a dehumanising straitjacket to hold down certain aspects of being human in order to retain power for "social justice" purposes.

Good riddance.
