So with the fixture list due for the 2013/2014 season on Wednesday, what sort of fixtures are you looking for and wanting to avoid (for example, a rivalry clash for the title/Champions League places/relegation spots on the final game of the season), who do you think your first, and last, game will be against and, most importantly, when would you like to lose to Cardiff? :ninja: My preferred games to begin would be all away to: Man United Man City Liverpool Chelsea Bale Arsenal We'll probably end up with Fulham at home as our first game based on absolutely fuck all. Last game will probably be away to one of the big clubs where we need to win to stay up, such as Man United or Liverpool. Would also be looking out for when we grace the Premiership with a new derby.

I think we should play one of the teams in the premiership either home or away 1st then continue till we have played each club twice, once at their ground and once at ours till end of season.

Not arsed who we play when really. I just hope we don't get many Monday night or Sunday 4pm games as they're a pain in the arse

I think you should read what I posted a little bit more and try not to be a smart arse.

I did, i don't care. We got to play each of the other teams twice, i don't care which order they come in

Logically it's a day that shouldn't bother me but it just does. Gives you the first real imagination of what the season will be like.

I want...

- As many of our five north west away games to be during Uni term time, on a Saturday 3pm as possible. In the last two seasons out of a possible six games, only ONE has fit that criteria. Absolute bollocks.

- The better aways to be Saturday 3pm. In-particular Charlton, Forest, QPR, Watford (will be interesting), Sheff Weds, Bournemouth, Yeovil.

- Would like Derby away on boxing day for some reason.

- The shite aways like Middlesbrough, Ipswich, Millwall, Reading, Doncaster etc... can all be midweek.

I fully expect not a single one of them to happen. Reckon our opening game will be Burnley away, last game at home to Sheff Weds, boxing day to be Ipswich away, new years day to be Huddersfield at home (2nd year running).

Man City get their standard easy first game. Very interesting one for Man Utd - tough game that is.

Cardiff get a repeat of two years ago.

Hull fucked after one game, Palace most likely too.

At least we get the worst fixture of the year out of the way straight from the off. On the other hand Moyes has a difficult start with Chelsea, Liverpool, City all in his 1st 5 games

Villa first three Games:

Arsenal away, Liverpool home & Chelsea away

I'd bet my house you would never see a Top 6 side get shafted with a start like that.

So a repeat of the 2011/2012 season where we begin away to West Ham. Our first home games are against Man City and Everton. The premiership is graced with a new derby around the beginning of November, where we play Swansea at home. Worst month looks to be January, where three of the four fixtures are away to top 6 teams, first against Arsenal, followed by Man City, then Man United to finish off. Being relegation candidates, our end of season run in doesn't look too bad, though we do not want to get to the final game needing a result against Chelsea at home.

The Norwich City away game is going to be a really hard opener. I've got a feeling that they will be the surprise package this year so I actually wouldn't mind us just taking a point so long as we can get results against both West Brom & Cardiff in the next two weeks.

David Moyes has a hard start (which I'm happy about) and can realistically see him only getting a few points from his opening few games. Teams will go at United with a lesser level of fear knowing that Sir Alex is no longer in charge and I can honestly see him having a tough start to the campaign given Liverpool & Chelsea are up against him from the first few weeks.

Manchester City will tonk Newcastle United with all the pissing around that's going on at the club whilst Hull & Palace will receive a baptism of fire (mainly Hull) and face an up-hill battle to survive.

Nothing says welcome to the Premiership with the first game of the season away against Chelsea, and then the second away game against Man City. The home game against Norwich in between is winnable though, and our ability to survive the season will be based on getting 3 points at home to teams like Norwich. We also have some winnable games thereafter. At the moment, and based on how teams line up currently, I'm quite happy with our fixture list. We don't really have a run of games against Top 7 teams which is helpful because it means beyond that you always have a chance of at least a point. Will be interesting to see how Di Canio and Sunderland start can't think of a worse set of fixtures. For Moyes it's a difficult start but also an opportunity. Win those early games against Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool and he'll soon shut up anyone doubting his ability to replace Ferguson. And it'll install the fear factor in the league that at Old Trafford it's business as usual.

Could be a rocky start for Utd, I am sure it wont matter though. Everyone plays everyone at somepoint.

We have awful home fixtures and more winnable aways until Christmas, and then it swaps. Got a feeling we'll probably have a stronger second half of the season.

Fucking hell. Yes, it's a tough start but judging by half of you, it seems like we'll be relegated by Christmas. I found the line 'realistically only getting a few points from the first few games' rather amusing. Especially as it had 'realistically' in the sentence.

Arsenal always get an easy game at home, think we've been away 16 out of 21 games on the first day of the premier league.

Going to miss the derby as I am in America, but we usually don't bother in August anyway so we'll lose that. Players won't even be signed at that point.

Looking forward to Palace away, should be a cracking start to the season

Got to play them all at some point, our first few home games aren't too bad, on paper at least, so hopefully be able to pick up points. Tough run-in though.

Start off at home against a side which will be difficult to beat but one we should be looking to get all 3 points from. Can't say any of the opening fixtures stand out though.

Your right about that, not exactly a stand out game were you can say it should be on tv. Would imagine Moyes 1st game will be chosen though and possibly Arsenal's

I have I just don't see the what's so hard for them?  They play 2 of the top 6 in their first 3 games, we play 3 of the top six (I know Liverpool didn't finish there, but they are considered top 6) so there you go ours is harder.

Norwich's last 4 games are horrendous also

They play City, Chelsea and Liverpool, hardly the fixtures Moyes would have liked to start plus potentially difficult game at Swans. Only game you could say is 'easy' is Palace at home

Yeah, because United's games against Liverpool have always been notoriously easy. If you're judging it on league positions, the promoted 3 have far more difficult games as every team they play against finished ahead of them...........

I'm not disputing Utd's fixtures are tough, I'm just saying our are tougher in my opinion.

Villa's First 6 games:

Arsenal Away

Liverpool Home

Chelsea Away

Newcastle Home

Nowrich Away

Man City Home

Utd's First 6 games:

Swansea Away

Chelsea Home

Liverpool Away

Palace Home

Man City Away

West Brom Home

We play Arsenal as well as the games we share. My original statement of the top 6 not getting shafted I take back as UTD don't have it easy but it's highly likely that we won't register a point until September.

Not worried who we play early..as someone said above, we all got to play each other at some stage..expect United to have a slow start, and the media to announce sometime in september it's Chelsea's/city's title..y'know, like they did last season.

Our March fixtures are harsh.

Spurs, Chelsea, City, Everton all in a row, 3 of them away.

City game will be a banker as we always outplay them, but the others are tough.

Norwich's final 4 fixtures:

Liverpool

Utd

Chelsea

Arsenal

The key message from everyone high up in the hierarchy I presume would be - get safe from relegation wrapped up before these 4 fixtures! What a tough run-in.

That is a really bad run in for anyone never mind a team who could be close to the bottom. 12/5 is looking a good bet for them to go down

Agreed. Definitely worth putting some money on that. I can't see them being above mid-table all season anyway. And if the league is as tight as it was last season, then they could definitely be closer to relegation than those odds reflect.

Easy 3pts for City like normal, esp now City has the best team in the world  :coffee:
