No, there's no way back for Arsenal. The best they can hope for is to keep the aggregate score respectable.

Ribery out with sprained ligaments in his left ankle. Boateng and Schweinsteiger out due to suspension. I think we have ourselves a game.

1-1 or maybe even 0-1 Bayern. Not really expecting a lot of excitement, but I'd rather be wrong.

It's hard to see us getting a win here let alone a win to turn the tie but we can't go into the game with that mentality. Wilshere out but everyone else should be available which should mean Gibbs returning to LB but news is that Fabianski is set to start which should be interesting, was in good form before getting injured and losing his place to Szczesny but his first game in a long time...

likely lineup -

Fabianski

Sagna - Koscielny - Vermaelen - Gibbs

Ramsey - Arteta

Cazorla

Walcott - Giroud - Podolski

First off, Wilshere isn't confirmed to be out for the match, newspapers are reporting it, but Arsenal's official website haven't said anything about it. So why is everybody instantly taking what DM, and the Telegraph, and someone on twitter who also said we had signed David Villa, are saying as the word of god.

As for the match, knowing Arsenal's luck, we'll win the day, but lose the battle. 2-0 Arsenal.

I don't think it will matter. Ribery being out only means Shaqiri is in and he is still better than the wing options arsenal have. Bayern will score 2 at least and that will be the end of that. I can't believe the people predicting big arsenal wins. They are deflated, have a vastly inferior squad and Bayern wont be lazy.

I think Robben will be given the chance.

This should not be exiting. Hope not.

Ribery is shite in big champions league games anyway. Never seen him do anything special in one. Not for what he gets hyped up to be anyway.

This game isn't about if Bayern will go through, it's about how many goals they will score to get through with in my opinion. Would love to see a massive Arsenal come-back, but it's not happening. Maybe if the second leg was at the emirates, they'd have a glimmer of hope. However, there is no way they are going to the allianz arena being 3-1 down and getting through, they are fucked. They will go out to attack Bayern due to being down and the germans will just eat them alive. I would have watched this game, but I see no point now as a neutral.

Arsenal's top Champions League scorer Lukas Podolski will miss the match with an ankle injury. Attacking midfielder Jack Wilshere is also out, as are Szczesny and Sagna.

Rumour has it that with these injuries, Wenger will now field a complete reserve team including Coquelin, Fabianski, Rosicky, and Chamberlain.

Gunners are throwing in the towel without Poldi and Jack.

Home game against Real last season. He scored a goal and showed some brilliant dribbles and technique in that match.

Over 3000 fans are traveling to Munich.

Meanwhile, it looks like Le Wenger decided to rest some players.

Apparently, Le Wenger wants to prioritize a top four finish in the PL.

What about if Arsenal do not make the top four ?

Then the fans will be unhappy, Wenger will say he is disappointed and life will go on. Arsenal wont sack Wenger, he makes them too much money. The only way he will be gone at the end of the season is if he stepped down

If the rumoured line ups are correct then Arsenal are going to be in for a tougher time than they had at home... for what it's worth they need to go to try and earn the win even if they do get knocked out which after the first leg looks inevitable really... it would be good to think that they could somehow turn it all around and make it a decent match but just don't see them doing that.. If Bayern get the first goal then it will be enough for them to relax a bit and maybe take their foot off the gas and allow Arsenal some sniffs at goal as the game goes on.. if Arsenal get one first then I just expect Bayern to move up through the gears and power their way through...

As much as i'd love for Arsenal to come back and wipe that smug arrogant smile from some of the cocky Bayern players' faces, it's not going to happen.....so that task will be some other teams in the next round.

Don't get me wrong I like Bayern, but some of their players i.e. Ribery and Robben are utter cunts!

Can't see Bayern not scoring so therefore I can't see Arsenal going through. The pressure is off them though really as no one expects them to go through, and thats when Arsenal are at their most dangerous as their players don't handle pressure well.

Howcome Wenger has rested/left out loads for this game?? I know Wilshere and Podolski are injured but seems the predicted line-up is a weak one.

Will try to avoid the result and watch this when I get back from the Rovers game. Hopefully Arsenal restore some pride and get a positive result at least on the night even if they don't go through. No shame in going out to Bayern as they are one of the form teams in Europe.

I would like to know a Gooner's perspective on Wenger pretty much giving up.It will be bloody difficult going there to get a result, but to rest players is shocking.

@ the match itself.Think Munich would have won against a strong Arsenal side. But now that they are going to put out a weakened side, me thinks this could end up being embarassing for Arsenal.

Szczesny is the only one being "rested" which basically means he's been dropped today to wake him up. Sagna, Wilshere & Podolski are out with slight injuries. Making out we're intentionally going to play a weakened side is bollocks.
