Hello! This is the first off topic thread in German Football Forum on TFF. You can talk about different themes (german themes preferred) or ask for translations. Also, you can write in german and english. @ admins: If you don't want this thread, please delete and write me a shortly private message. Thanks! Maybe, it would be nice, if you could expose the posting counter for this thread. So, let's go!

Good idea for the thread, by the way. I always thought that something similar like it could have potential, and might help to attract other Bundesliga fans!

Tsubs, maybe it's worth to try and pin this thread? If it doesn't work, you could always unpin it? :) I just think it's good to have a specific place here in our German sub-forum where we can simply talk about whatever we want, without simply spamming :)

This is a great idea for a thread, just wish I could understand German :D but I'm thinking of starting to learn it again, seen as in the long run I would love to move to Germany, even if it is only for a year just to experience it.

Hey Pinder2807! German is a very difficult language. So, if we could help, feel free to ask. :) Which city do you want to see? Only Dortmund or also other cities?

Well I used to learn German in college, when I was about 14, but now I'm 19 and barely remember any of it, so just don't know where to start really, but next year hopefully going to University to study Sports Journalism, and then after that when I am about 23, I would love to move to Germany to specialise in the Bundesliga. But I would love to visit all the major cities, and then like places like Rostock etc, unless you let me know of any places that wouldn't really welcome the English :D

The cities in "West" are really friendly and plainly. Also the "Rheinland" (Cologne, Dusseldorf) and the "Ruhrpott" (Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen, Bochum, Essen). I don't be so experienced in the East cities. I lived in Brandenburg for 4 months. You won't get problems in Brandenburg (State - Potsdam, Frankfurt/Oder and also Cottbus) and Berlin. It could be difficult in Braunschweig and Dresden, But it isn't so as it used to be. Xenophobia is a problem which is much bigger in Italy than in Germany. ;)

Ah right, cheers for the heads up, I don't really plan on going to Dresden anyway :D How much would you pay in rent for a bedsit/apartment do you know? Surely it must be cheaper than here, apartments are ridiculously overpriced here.

Hey Pinder2807! German is a very difficult language. So, if we could help, feel free to ask. :)Which city do you want to see? Only Dortmund or also other cities?

Honestly though I live in the "Ruhrgebiet" and am from a city that's close to Dortmund and personally I would not suggest anyone who wants to live in Germany moving to my state. Not saying that there's not lots of stuff to do here...North-Rhine-Westphalia is by far the most populated German state and there are lots of big cities around where I live with great places to go and tons of night clubs, obviously soccer clubs, and anything you could be looking for. But due to the fact that the state grew so much as a reason of coal mining the state is full of industrial complexes and it is not exactly very pretty. I absolutely hate how some of the cities look around here with all the grayish houses that were affected by the heavy air polution that was once present in North-Rhine-Westphalia as a consequence of the industrial boom. So if you, like me, care about how the city you live in looks, don't live in Dortmund or cities close to it. Generally speaking I think a lot of the cities here look dirty and I'm absolutely certain you'll find prettier cities in South and North Germany. Not a big fan of Eastern Germany actually because I simply don't like the Saxon accent :D but for example what I saw of southern Germany so far especially in the area around Lake Constance was absolutely beautiful. Only problem there will be waaayyyy less things to do down there in comparison to what all you could do here I'd say because it's just not as densely populated.

Absolutely sick of her. I mean I don't really care about celebrities all that much anyway but she just gets annoying I think. Honestly, Raab, the guy who's managing her is really cool and at first she seemed cool too as she tried to stay normal and built up that image of being an extroverted girl with lots of spirit and vivaciousness. But now it just gets boring and I don't even like her music at all. :D She's trying to be funny by still using that image, she doesn't really like rules and she does the most random things on tv and says really stupid things just to sound funny and cool. Basically I want someone new...maybe a hotter version of her with a better voice and more charme. :P But as I said I'm sick of all the celebrity talk on tv anyway. I don't care about most celebrities any more than I care about any random person that lives in my city. Most just get on my nerves and so do all the shows about them. Who cares if "XY" has a new girlfriend and "Z" has another affair? I certainly don't and I don't feel like I'm in the position to judge any of them for how they live their lives. Honestly if I had the money they have I'd probably be partying day and night. They're just very unfortunate to live such public lives so anything they do that gets considered as wrong by our society will be on the media.

Apparently Löw has said that LELL is a possibility for the future... not sure how much of a chance he's got (can't be too bad, though, considering our relatively poor selection of fullbacks), but more Hertha representation can only be a GOOD thing! :D (There is no Hertha thread, so I thought I'd put it here...)

Good! Had a great day in the Westfalenstadion yesterday! Funny one too. Some guy next to me fell asleep and dropped his beer cup over some girl who sat infront of him. Comedy gold. And even when the 80k fans were cheering, he kept falling asleep. Strange guy.

This sounds great, I was looking into studying abroad for a summer session in Frankfurt, but the program is for business majors, so I may not be able to go, unless I can do it through another school, but I am really looking forward to going to Germany some time soon.

When I go to some Arsenal matches over here in England, I actually see quite a few people a sleep, I don't get how someone could sleep in a stadium, but then again the way Arsenal have been playing lately it could put me to sleep.

The 'Drei-Länder-Eck' which is the area containing Mainz, Wiesbaden, Mannheim is a really nice area as well. The Pfalz between Trier, Kaiserslautern, and Saarbrücken is nice to if you're into nature and sights too!

True! We actually stayed at a summer house once that was REALLY close to the Nürburgring. You could always hear the cars and the motorbikes from there, and they had some kind of an oldtimer race at the time. Was interesting to see. The museum right next to the Nürburgring is quite interesting too for those who are interested in motor sports.
