Anyone know a good software (free of course) where I can convert video files? I've got a load of MP4 files that needs converting.

This one is very good in my opinion: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I use it all of the time. It comes with all of the codecs, but you might need to download some more if it doesn't work straight away. I use the 'Full' version of the K-Lite package: http://www.free-code...ck_download.htm

What do you want to convert to?

MP4 to AVI? MP4 to WMV? MP4 to DVD?

I already have that codec pack just for watching normal movies on PC.

Just a quick question for you CC if you don't mind...im trying to convert a AVI file to DVD and i have a message that pops up saying '' WARNING! YOU ARE USING A NON-ACTIVATED VERSION OF VIDEO CONVERTER! (sorry for caps) The watermark banner will be placed in the centre of the output file. Are you sure you want to continue?''

Whats ''the watermark banner''? will that fuck my movie up?

EDIT: Ole toss he's offline lol...someone help me http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Basically it's the same as the 'Getty Images' logo you see on photographs produced from Getty. Or any other transparent logo on an image. Like I've done with that .gif in my signature I made. You'll notice a 'CC' in the top left-hand corner. So the logo of the software you're using will be put right in the middle of the movie. Which obviously will ruin the experience of watching it a bit.

Fiddy, you want to watch an .avi movie on dvd player? It depends on the model of your player, some of them read avi files without converting.

If you have an external hard drive, you can buy something to enable you to play stuff on your TV straight from the hard drive. I have this:
http://www.amazon.co...67014815&sr=1- 2

In HD as well. It recognises pretty much any sort of media file. So long as the codecs or dimensions aren't corrupt.

It seems that it doesn't support .avi, you'll have to convert it, after all :)
