The match didn't matter on Saturday, what mattered is a young Dad lost his life at a football match in a stupid incident. Statements being released now say a group of drunk people were stupidly throwing around a bin at half time which hit someone on the back of the head, later know as John Taylor. This guy wasa HUGE Rovers fan, a lot of people knew him and its such a sad story. He leaves behind a son and gf, his gf was in tears at the game so we knew someone was wrong.

Lots of things have been said about the incident, but it was a stupid prank gone wrong and god knows why people were throwing a bin around because the concourse was packed. Even a hour before kick off you could hardly move down there! A lot of people were very drunk as well then so if they were serving alcohol inside the ground as well god knows what state they were in at half time.

I can't believe I was sat metres away while it all unfolded, its sickening to think we were all slating the ref or players when a guy was fighting for his life down below us.

Hope the club do something Wed night, its a shocking story. RIP John.

Tragic story, agreed, but after hearing reports of him trying to head the bin... it was pretty inevitable.

Foolish mistake that's ruined the life of his family - that's where my full sympathy lies.

Rest in peace.

don't want to point fingers but this is why we have stewards and police in the ground, how did they let a bin game go on like that?

Exactly my point Harvey! How the hell it was allowed to go on as reports say it had been thrown around a bit is beyond belief. Also, why aren't the bins nailed to the ground?! Some other grounds do this and it makes safety sense. Just sounds like a tragic alcohol related accident, I pity him if he wasn't in the crowd who were throwing it around but if he was then it was very foolish. Like its been said, the people who lose out are his child, gf and family who have lost someone when it should never have happened in the first place.

I'm sure you've heard that word before so don't start that game  Yes, he got a bin (trash can for you yanks) thrown at him when it was being thrown around by a group of drunken idiots. Not sure if he was part of the group.

Blackburn players will wear black arm bands tomorrow night and we'll have a minutes silence.

What actually happened though? Did the bin accidentally hit him, or did he attempt to head the bin? Either way, it's a sad loss, but if it's the latter then he should've known better.

R.I.P., anyway. Good to see Blackburn taking some actions to memorise him.

Bad news, it just shows that you're never 100% safe and that you may never return, whenever you leave your home. It's a easy as that and deaths similar to this or other everyday events like driving(and crashing the car) happen all to often. It must be hard for the people who actually killed him aswell as it sounded accidential to me and this will be enough to scar whoever threw the bin, for life. I suppose you could look at it this way and say that he died while watching something he loved, but still, nobody deserves to die, at his age. I was discusted at the result of the game on Saturday, but after finding this out, it made me realise how important other things are at matches other than just the football on the pitch.

R.I.P John, thoughts go out to you are your family.

I was being sincere in my question. If not proceeded by the word, 'trash' or 'garbage' a bin over here could be any type of open container or storage area.

Beyond that it's all very sad someone had to lose their life over such nonsense.

RIP

Terrible news, RIP John.

It's always sad to hear someone going to a football match, and never returning.

Blimmin hell some people go on like right saints in here like it was really bad to throw a bin about, i accept its wrong but come on ffs we all do these sort of things when drunk at times in our lives, i've done far worse stuff when drunk. So sad someone goes out like that.

Yeah but it is wrong to throw large objects like that?! I'm sure most of us on here have never thrown something like that because we all know the consequences. Yes, people do silly stuff when drunk but most people know its wrong to thrown a large, heavy bin in an area with hundreds of people in!

What ever the rights or wrongs of it though, he went to watch the team he loved and never returned home which is such a tragic story especially as he leaves behind a kid. It could have been avoided which makes it all the worse.

Yeah its wrong i get what your saying...but i think its abit different when say like its being thrown in a croud whilst others take part, its done more in a way where people are just pissing about pissed up with no intent to hurt one an other, like if i was in that croud and see that happening i would never ever think something like that could end up resulting in a death, never.

But we learn something new everyday i guess and hopefully the club will screw the bins down and take harsher action on stuff like this in future.

Very sad story though.
