Capello's Nirvana - Smells Like Team Spirit

Nirvana, the Buddhist state of mind free from desire and anger, the end of reincarnation. Having axed John Terry from the England captaincy, Fabio Capello aims to keep control of the dressing room and perhaps the media. Every man and his wife has had an opinion on John Terry this week. Plenty of people who know nothing about football have decided to give their two pence worth, this is apparently a moral dilemma of LIFE.

How much does Capello care about moral issues in this case? I'd hope the answer is none what so ever. Sitting on six million pounds a year for being a football manager I'd hope he made the decision based on his football team. Other than phone calls it is impossible for Capello to know who in the team is not happy with Terry. Regardless, plenty of people seem to think that it is a given that everyone in that dressing room will hate him.

John Terry's off field life may effect his performances on the pitch now, with a potential divorce looming and the press probably digging for more dodgy stories perhaps the worst is still to come. However, as England supporters we can hope and pray that John Terry does what he should do, does what we expect of a strong Englishman, does what we think John Terry is about, stand up and be counted, prove a point. Obviously his wife is the only one damaged in this, but we can hope that he apologizes to the country through his performances! This incident could spark him into great passion and desire for the game.

Capello is keeping the wolves of the media at bay. As he landed back in England a swarm of press were quick to get in his face. Many senior figures of football have had their say in the media to also pressurize Capello. Perhaps with him being Italian and away from the country for a month he is better placed to make a media free judgement than an Englishman reading the papers every day.

On a side note, if Wayne Bridge was not with the woman in question then John Terry has cheated no one but his wife. It would have little to do with Wayne Bridge, the only person cheated here is John Terry's wife. Someone who would do such a thing should not be the lead role model of any country, perhaps that is the only potential moral issue in Capello's mind.

Everything Capello has done and will do over all of this is to protect his players, mainly from the media and not from John Terry!
