When the weekend is over there will be the little matter of the quarter-finals of the Pokal.

Tuesday 9th February sees Werder Bremen at home To Hoffenheim at 2030hrs. The game will be live on ARD1 and is anybody's guess the way the teams are performing at present - not even sure if it will not be a draw.

The other 3 games are played on Wednesday with two at 1900hrs: Bayern at home to Greuther Furth (ouch) and Augsburg bidding to upset Koln. Highlights of these games will be shown on ZDF after 2015hrs ready for the 2030 kick off and live coverage of Osnabruck at home to Schalke at 2030hrs.

All times above are local (one hour ahead of UK) and if anybody wishes to disagree with the following - have a go. The semi-finalists should be

Bayern V Bremen
Schalke v Koln with a Bayern/Schalke final. Remember the old nursery rhyme?

Here comes a candle to light you to bed and here is a chopper to chop off your head! Anybody willing to put the head on the block?

I'm gonna go,

Bremen - Hoffenheim ... Going with Bremen but could go either way.
Bayern - Furth ... Allianz collapsing after game.
Augsburg - Koln ... Sun shines on Koln's side of the field in the final minutes.
Osnabruck - Schalke ... 'Can of corn' for Schalke

Nice snowing in Bremen!
What a miss by Pizzaro!
Hoping for a tight game and guess that Werder would manage to get the win.

Amazing free kick by Naldo gave us a 1-0 lead, well deserved, though Hoffe had a couple of chances as well. If Özil would have placed that pass for Pizza better, it would have ended with goal for sure.
If we can get another one soon, I believe that would be enough to win, I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Brilliant atmosphere in the stadium today, by the way!

Yes, it sounds mint and the ARD commentator was nice enough to keep his mouth shut most of the time

Very nice goal by Naldo. Hoffe did almost nothing in the first half, but showed a glimpse of hope that it could get better in the 2nd half.

It actually sounds like he has more important stuff to do today than just comment the game  I don't mind that at all though.

I still don't write off Hoffe yet, as even if they are missing quite a lot players and their bench looks just awful, an individual action from Carlos Eduardo/Ibisevic/Maicosuel could be enough to score, hence why we definitely need another goal and concentration in defence. The game itself looks rather chaotic though, also many offsides and quite a lot foul play.

Hugo Hugo Hugo! :D

Two class goals gave us deserved win and the ticket to semifinal. Credit to Hoffenheim for not giving up, they made me worry when they equalized.

Berlin, Berlin, wir fahren nach Berliiiiiin! (I hope so) :D

Shame you never met Patrick (was our resident uber Bremen fan for years here at TFF) you two would have made a great couple.

Congrats on the win.

I take it that's the guy who was keeping the Bremen thread alive and hating Bayern even more than I do? what happened to him?

It would be great to play in final again, but I have a feeling we'll get Bayern in the semis, and that could be it. Of course, Fürth vs. Bayern is yet to come, but I doubt Fürth have any chances really.

Bayern 1-2 Fürth HT
Augsburg 1-0 Köln HT

That's just amazing! Fürth are leading despite going down just 5 minutes after the kick-off, they are really fired up and deserve their lead. Hope they can keep it up, Bayern don't play well so far, of course they are still favourites to win this, but I will be keeping my finger crossed for Fürth!

EDIT: well, my little voodoo ritual apparently failed to work and Bayern won 6-2. Augsburg are in the semis as well, after a 2-0 win against 8-men Köln, what a mad game...Podolski laste the whole 9 minutes on the pitch before being shown his second yellow card. Kuranyi saved Schalke in the match which could have gone either way.

However, the semifinal draw is already made, so here we go:

Schalke - Bayern
Bremen - Augsburg

I'm not complaining!

The semifinals are to be played on 23-24th of March.

Thoughts?

Or even more than I do.

Yeah Patrick kept the Bremen, among other threads, swinging. I never saw the post as it was deleted but dear old Patrick had this unrestricted wit and a propensity for calling Hamburg fans Nazis. Hated the Rothosen with a passion. Unfortunately it finally got him banned when he pushed his luck one too many times.

Schalke - Bremen would be a nice final.

Disappointed with the game last night. Kuranyi score one of many - he seems to has got his old arrogance back which relies on the goal posts being in the wrong place and insists they moved when he shot! Farfan looks totally disinterested and needs a long lie down. Sanchez made one good cross and lost every other ball he was given - needs to spend time in the third team. Our new little Chinese guy seems to have the right attitude and it might be catching in which case why play him for the last 5 minutes. Rakitic has lost his concentration and sent some great crosses and a lot of rubbish as well. Bordon is playing like Ballack - no one allowed to challenge his decisions and Rafina is fannying about to very little purpose at present. Meanwhile Magath sits and watches and complains and still does nothing to change obvious problems. Bayern will murder us in the semis if this continues and Koln could take revenge this weekend. SORT IT FELIX = there are afew Dortmunders on your tail!

PS yes I miss Patrick too - I would be very happy to give him another go if he keeps his uniform in the cupboard. Bet he's grieving at having lost his little Diego - very understandable. He is still playing like a pocket genius in Italy....
