bild.de claims that the deal is done and will be announced later tonight or tomorrow. According to them, HSV paid 800k to secure a loan till the end of this season, with an option to buy him for 14-17m.

It is almost done just as the transfer of Demel to Sunderland is almost completed for app 2.2 million Euros.

Yes I saw that earlier, but my note said they had paid 2.2million Eu for him - he is not a youngster and if the Algerian team's results in the rubbish cup of anybody is anything to go by, 2.2 hundred would be excessive. I can't understand why German and English clubs have this strange fetish to sign African players when there are loads of local kids just as good, and usually better long term investments. Why they would consider 2.2million after they spent so little on a kid called Ozil leaves me cold! For your sake and the other Bremen fans I hope I am wrong, but I am not holding my breath.

What? We paid only 200k for him (loan deal till the end of the season), he's 20-year-old Tunisian (captain of U21 team) and he's definitely not in the African Cup of Nations at the moment :) The deal also has the option to buy him in the end of the loan.
Sorry for posting it though, I didn't realize I have posted it before already.

With Kuranyi and Farfan starting regularly and now Edu in the line-up GladBach have asked Magath about the possibilty of signing Altintop in time for Satruday's game against Bochum.
No doubt nudge is awar of the comments by Tomas Schaff about the performance of Ozil on Saturday. Schaff is reported as saying that (if my german is correct) Ozil must help himself and concentrate on his own performance - it was not good enough in the Frankfurt game. Could this be the start of another fall out with Mesut's daddy?

Edu looked quite good on his debut, I think he might be a good signing after all. Kluge picked up an injury though, unfortunately.
As for Özil, Schaaf and Alofs were right to tell him things that are supposed to bring him back to earth. Once the media and pundits started praising him, he seems to be unsettled and doesn't really perform on the pitch. He's still young, and this pressure is just too much for him, he should concentrate on his present instead of dreaming of a transfer to Arsenal or any other club in the near future. Schaaf did a class interview on ZDF on saturday, he made things pretty clear, and I hope there will be a positive reaction from Özil as well as from other players. The management team has enough of bad performances, and they have finally taken some action. The whole squad was given a strict talking after the Frankfurt match, and they were made to attend a punitive training on Sunday, instead of relaxing after the match. Those actions are definitely needed, and I hope we'll still be able to turn things around.

If Özil's dad or he himself start showing the signs of dissappointment, I'd rather see him leaving than unsettling the whole team and making a bad influence for the overall morale. No player is bigger than the club, and he should realise that he's not as amazing as he thinks he is.

According to Bild, Schalke has signed China's national midfielder Hao Junmin on free transfer. If that's confirmed, it will be Magath's seventh signing in winter transfer window! Meaning someone will definitely leave next week?

Stuttgart's Bastürk has been linked with Blackburn Rovers.

And... Van Nistelrooy seems very likely to join HSV :(

Köln coach has confirmed the club are closing in on a loan deal for Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic.

EDIT: This deal has been done, and as bundesliga.de reports, "Zoran Tosic will be wearing the Köln-kit until the end of the season. Both clubs have agreed to keep the details of the loan-transfer undisclosed."

Other new deals (all from bundesliga website):

Midfielder Yildiray Bastürk has signed a contract with English Premier League outfit Blackburn Rovers. The contract with VfB Stuttgart has been dissolved and the 31-year-old is free to link up with Blackburn.

Eintracht Frankfurt are closing in on signing Turkish international striker Halil Altintop from Bundesliga rival FC Schalke 04. The 27-year-old is expected to travel to Frankfurt this evening (January 27th), but the contract-talks will not be concluded until Thursday.

Réver to Wolfsburg

From Globoesporte.com:

Quote

O anúncio oficial ainda não foi feito pela diretoria, mas Réver está mesmo de saída do Grêmio. Nesta terça-feira, o zagueiro iniciou a viagem à Alemanha para realizar exames médicos no Wolfsburg.

The Wolves desperate need a central, only Hertha Berlin allowed more goals in Bundesliga. Réver is a good player, Miranda is better but also way more expensive.

So, I believe this is a good deal for Wolfsburg, even though he broke his hand and will take 3 weeks to recover. They will pay 5 million euros for a solid player who´s still 25.

Altintop can get bent. Traitor!

Yes, it's also reported in German media. Bild claims he will sign the contract until 2015, the deal is almost done.
I've never seen him play I'm afraid, but if he's solid, then 5m is a good deal to boost Wolfsburg's struggling defence.

Sorry Scoutie - I don't regard Altintop as a traitor. When Farfan came it was always going to be difficult as he had been second choice behind Kev K and now Magath has got Edu I can't see him getting back into the first 11 selected. He was never quite the same after his bro left for the Munchkins - still a very good player - and perhaps a new club will relight his fire. I don't always agree with some of things Felix has done this year, but the results are not too bad - I suppose top 3 is as good as it could get, but I hope he realises who are the best to keep and if Rafinha goes that will not be too much of a problem - he is great on attack, but his defensive blunders has cost us games - including last week at Bochum so the money will be of more use than his lack of desire to stay. Just a few days to go to decide....

Wolfsburg have completed the transfer of highly rated defender Rever from Brazilian outfit Gremio for a reported €5 million fee. The centre back has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal at his new club. (goal.com).
Also, Wolfsburg's defender Ricardo Costa joined Lille on free transfer.

Bochum have completed the transfer of Schalke's youngster Lewis Holtby on a six-month loan deal, according to a report in Kicker.

Werder Bremen's Jurica Vranjes is loaned to Genclerbirgli Ankara till the end of the season.

Marcelo Moreno is also sent back to Shakhtar Donetsk, he didn't impress during his time here, and we terminated the loan deal for him, apparently.

probably somewhat "bigger" transfer in the end of transfer window - Stuttgart's Thomas Hitzlsperger has just joined Lazio.

EDIT: we have signed Sandro Wagner from Duisburg, he can play both as midfielder and striker.

EDIT #2: Bayern Munich's defender Edson Braafheid is set to move back to Holland to join Martin Jol's Ajax, according to German publication Bild.

And away we go!

Hope my boy Alan and the kids from Schalke take the wood to the rest of the league now. They've spent a decade coming so close it be nice to see them finally win it.

Especially since next season Lautern will be returning to take names and kick ass.

Well at least if they don't win, with 37 (!) players in squad they won't be able to justify it with the lack of depth...
They have quite a few injured, but that's a massive squad nevertheless!

Thank you for your kind thoughts. I think young Sam waited until last night to put on that performance. If the game had been played on Saturday no doubt Magath and others would have been nibbling before the end of the transfer period. His first goal was great and FKC were looking as if they have now got serious intent for the second half and promotion. Good game for a 'neutral' to enjoy.
