Valencia midfielder David Silva is set to be sidelined for the rest of 2009 after suffering a knee injury.

The Spain international picked up the problem in the first half of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Real Mallorca and had to be replaced immediately.

Scans have now confirmed that the injury is not as serious as first feared but will keep him out of action for around a month.

Silvahttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer.gif will therefore miss several big games for his club in December including Europa League matches against French side Lille on Wednesday and Italy's Genoa on 17th December.

He will also sit out a number of domestic clashes and is unlikely to return before the Primera Division takes a break on 20th December.

Bad news for Valencia and David Silva. The club are in good form at the moment and he was one of the reasons why. It's a shame for Silva, as he has never fully been able to show off his talents in my opinion. Due to him suffering from constant niggles and injurys.

To be honest, I don't mind him being out for a month, just as long as he comes back in good shape and doesn't get injured for the WORLD CUP!

big blow for the club. immense talent gone from tme midfield, but i'm sure that they'll be alright if they put a forward in his spot. offensive minded with a good bit of pace and set up ability and they'll do fine. really bad time for him to go down though, Europa Cup tie, then away to Scumbao, hosting Real Madrid, then another Europa Cup tie, rounded out with Deportivo. damn...big blow no matter how you look at it.
