We would just use it as a giant communal swimming pool

I'd rather not. The phrase 'dropping the kids off at the pool' would become all too literal...

Off out to Birmingham in 2 weeks time for the German market and then big night out.

Enjoy the market, £13.50 for two pints (including refundable tankard) is pretty much the yardstick of what everything will cost you. God only knows how much the beer stalls make over the course of six weeks.

Sounds beautiful

They must rake it in but I guess it's popular for a reason because of all the beers you can't regularly get over here.

Aye, fuck knows what I had but two pints of it over the course of an hour in the fresh air still left me rather inebriated, so it must be decent stuff  Didn't taste too different from the likes of Heineken, it's just a lot stronger.

Yeah looking forward to it all to be honest. First time and I'm sure the food is to die for, too.

Have you ever been to Katzenjammer in London? One of the best places I've been to I think. Not just in London but this country. Superb place.

Was planning to go to Villa away but 1) they moved it and 2) ticket prices are obscenely stupid for a match which will be on TV anyway.

We're going to that pre-Villa I think. I've scabbed an U21 for it.

Start my new job tomorrow. Will be fine once I'm back in the routine again which I think will only benefit me. Joining the gym this time around.

It's the biggest German market outside of Germany I'm led to believe. The food does look good, especially if you're into 18 inch Frankfurters, I was literally there for beer.

Never been to Katzenjammer, indeed I had to Google it! Only reason I went to the Birmi one is because it's literally 15 mins from where I live. Can't say I've ever really tried German food / beer properly

Oh wow, nice. I'll be there for the food and drink. Both in equal (but high nonetheless) measure!

Katzenjammer well worth going to. Live music and those massive Stein jugs for decent price. I remember staying there for virtually a whole night with my mates while working at Olympics and finding out we were drinking and singing with the NZ female rowing team . I'd actually given them medals earlier that day but totally not recognised them out of their rowing gear

Agreed, I can still remember the year Christmas lost its sparkle back when I was a kid, not been the same since. Even most of the family I used to visit on the day have either passed away or moved out of town, so I'm literally at home all Christmas Day now. Can't even really look forward to it yet, got so much shit needs sorting out with uni essays and job applications that I'm just looking forward to next weekend!

It still has a bit of a sparkle for me but back when I was a kid it was amazing. One Christmas was pretty grim though, young lassy a few doors down was found hanging on Christmas Day, really soured the whole thing, was absolutely awful. Last Christmas was pretty hard for me from a personal point of view, was going through a bit of a shit time and sadly I think it could be similar this year the way things are going.

Been truly shafted on my bets this weekend, I had a six match accy that fell one result short. 50 pence won a fucking grand. One fucking result short. For fuck sake.

... At least Marseille won tonight and have gone top of the league again.

Always painful when that happens...

No one would bet on Marseille. Then Bielsa came along.

Of course it won't be the same as when you were a kid but I still love Xmas myself. Something about the mood/atmosphere around that time of year that is class. Then you've got spending time with the family, getting pissed, Xmas dinner etc. London looks class round this time of year as well.

More a summer man myself but autumn/winter does have it's decent moments. February/March time is a dull period really, could do without it.

I've enjoyed christmas time in recent years because as a college student I get like a month off between semesters. Personally I think fall is the best time of the year, temperature is most comfortable to me, the trees look great in the region I'm from and you get the NFL/Premier League back in swing.

Been without hot water for three days now. The landlord sent a plumber round who by all accounts seemed like he did not know what to do about a boiler and when it came to putting it together and asked the other half if it looked on properly. Bloody freezing here as well.

Also got the week off so I'm heading back to Manchester for the markets. I do enjoy them but would be nice to try Birmingham as it sounds pretty awesome. Sheffield however is shite for the markets.

Plus what an awesome catch.

It's illegal to touch a boiler if you're not Gas Safe I'm pretty sure, your landlord sending someone round who doesn't know how to work one seems pretty odd.

Had problems with damp in one of our rooms, landlord sent someone round today to strip the plaster off one of the walls and then put damp proofing on before plastering it again. Had to take loads of shit out and it's been a fuck on for the gadgie to say he doesn't think that it'll fix the problem....
