Good to have some support.

Funny though, they're my favorite Italian team as well!

I can dream.....so long as they don't come back up for a while. Actually fuck it, what do i care, they're not going to do anything anyway. At least Juve will get to batter them twice a year if they do come back up.

Albinoleffe 0-1 Piacenza
Albinoleffe fell to a disappointing home defeat, although Piacenza did not actually have to get on the scoresheet. Rupolo accidentally nodded a free kick into his own net 25 minutes in and his team never recovered, even though Avogadri saw red late on.
Scorers: Serafini og 25 (P)
Sent off: Avogadri 86 (P)

Ascoli 2-0 Brescia
Antenucci was the hero for the home side with a brace that sent leaders Brescia tumbling. Within the opening quarter of an hour the points were sealed up. Ascoli broke through 120 seconds in with Antenucci’s right-foot shot from the edge of the box, then he got on the end of a free kick. It would’ve been 3-0 had Arcari not saved Lupoli’s penalty in the second half, but the fact remains Ascoli leapfrog the Rondinelle in the table.
Scorers: Antenucci 2, 14 (A)
Missed penalty: Lupoli 63 (A)
Ascoli: Frezzolini; Gazzola, Portin, Silvestri, Micolucci; Sommese (Di Donato 77), Amoroso, Luci, Giorgi (Aloe 81); Antenucci, Lupoli (Potenza 70)
Brescia: Arcari; Martinez (Zambelli 46), Bega, Mareco, Dallamano; Baiocco, Barusso, Lopez; Possanzini (Rispoli 68), Caracciolo, Flachi (Kozak 53)

Attendance: To follow

Cesena 4-1 Triestina
Cesena thumped Triestina to go joint third, a crucial result as these two sides were level pegging going into the game. By the ninth minute both teams were already on target with Do Prado knocking it down for Sinigaglia and Testini's header for the visitors. De Feudis fired in from the edge of the box, Do Prado netted with a blockbuster from distance and Schelotto completed the rout with a right-foot curler.
Scorers: Sinigaglia 3 ©, Testini 9 (T), De Feudis 31 ©, Do Prado 61 ©, Schelotto 78 ©

Empoli 2-0 Frosinone

Leaders Frosinone crumbled at the Stadio Castellani and slipped down to third place. Empoli needed a confidence boost after their recent defeat at Ancona, so they came flying out of the blocks with Marianini turning in Coralli's assist. The provider turned scorer soon after thanks to an Eder dummy on Antonazzi's through ball. The Tuscans had more chances throughout the match, dooming Frosinone to their first defeat of the campaign.
Scorers: Marianini 8 (E), Coralli 18 (E)

Grosseto 3-1 Modena

Modena were without star striker Bruno and it showed, also losing Pinardi early on to injury. Turati made it 2-0 for Grosseto before half-time when he twice made the most of Carobbio assists. Joelson also hit the woodwork before Joelson was brought down for Joelson's penalty. Late on Conteh hauled down Troiano for Luisi to convert little more than a consolation spot-kick.
Scorers: Turati 14, 36 (G), Pinilla pen 73 (G), Luisi pen 83 (M)
Sent off: Giampà 90 (M)

Lecce 0-0 Crotone
Lecce continue to disappoint and failed to get past a stalemate with Crotone. It could have easily been worse, as the visitors had the best chances when they hit the woodwork twice with a deflected Gabionetta effort from a corner and Bonvissuto's angled drive. Crotone ended the match with 10 men, as Bonvissuto saw red for sarcastically applauding the referee.
Sent off: Bonvissuto 94 ©

Padova 2-1 Ancona
Match report to follow.
Scorers: Soncin 8 (P), Colacone 20 (A), Di Nardo 25 (P)

Reggina 1-1 Cittadella

Reggina simply can't get into gear so far this season and are falling further off the promotion pace. Capelli had given them the lead when redirecting Bonazzoli's wayward header with his chest from point-blank range. Cittadella fought back and eventually grabbed their point through Pesoli nodding in a free kick.
Scorers: Capelli 18 ®, Pesoli 70 ©

Salernitana 0-3 Torino
Torino temporarily top the Serie B table after this Friday night triumph, but Salernitana could take drastic measures as they are still without a single point. Former Stadio Arechi hero Di Michele was inspirational, creating the first goal when he dribbled past Polito and narrowed the angle too much, flicking it back to Diana. Sereni needed two fine saves to deny Caputo and Montervino an equaliser, but the second half was one-way traffic. Bastrini’s goalline clearance kept out Diana before Di Michele netted with a solo effort. Gasbarroni hit the woodwork and Bianchi consolidated his Capocannoniere status.
Scorers: Diana 15 (T), Di Michele 63 (T), Bianchi 80 (T)
Sent off: Pestrin 82 (S)
Salernitana: Polito; Galasso (Ferraro 55), Kyriazis, Stendardo, Bastrini, Russo (Millesi 72); Pestrin, Montervino (Carcuro 76), Soligo; Cozza; Caputo
Torino: Sereni; Rivalta, Ogbonna, Loria (Zoboli 48), Rubin, Diana, Vailatti (Zanetti 46), Coppola; Gasbarroni (Vantaggiato 80); Bianchi, Di Michele
Ref: Mazzoleni
Attendance: 10,629

Sassuolo 1-1 Mantova
The points were divided between the two teams and the result was overall fair. Martinetti acrobatically volleyed in a Gorzegno cross to the back post to give Sassuolo the lead, but with 17 minutes left on the clock Nassi bagged his third goal of the season.
Scorers: Martinetti 30 (S), Nassi 73 (M)

Vicenza 2-2 Gallipoli
Vicenza bravely completed a comeback from 2-0 down despite playing with 10 men for an hour. Towards the middle of the first half two events put Gallipoli on the apparent road to success, as Sosa nodded in Mounard's corner and Minieri saw red for a second bookable offence. Di Gennaro thought he'd sealed it with a left-foot drive, but he didn't count on Paonessa. The youngster first blasted in a rocket of a free kick from 35 metres, then created the equaliser for Brivio on the counter.
Scorers: Sosa 25 (G), Di Gennaro 56 (G), Paonessa 78 (V), Brivio 81 (V)
Sent off: Minieri 36 (V)

Not particularly pleased Toro are top but it'd be nice to see Brescia finally return to the top flight. Also nice to see Padova doing well. Salernitana have sacked Fabio Brini after 5 consecutive defeats.

Salernitana have appointed Marco Cari as their new Coach after firing Fabio Brini in the wake of five consecutive defeats.

The Arechi club officially sacked Brini on Saturday morning following a 3-0 home loss to Torino, leaving the side propping up the table without a single point.

The new man in charge is Cari, who spent last season on the Arezzo bench, and he has signed a contract until June 2010.

He will make his Serie B debut with Salernitana away to Piacenza on Tuesday, as there is a midweek round.

The 53-year-old tactician started his Coaching career in the amateur Serie D at Ferentino in 2000-01, moving on to Serie C2 outfit Giuliano and C1 sides Fermana, Teramo, Perugia, Taranto and Arezzo.

This will be Cari’s first ever Serie B experience as a Coach.

Ascoli 1-1 Cesena
The points were split at the Del Duca between two of the surprise packages of the season so far. Ascoli had the better first half chances and two penalty appeals, but Portin ruined all that hard work by turning Lauro’s cross into his own net. Schelotto shaved the post and almost put the result under lock and key, but in the final minutes Bernacci was hauled back by Volta and converted the penalty himself.
Scorers: Portin og 57 ©, Bernacci pen 84 (A)
Ascoli: Frezzolini, Gazzola, Portin, Silvestri, Giallombardo (Di Donato 82), Sommese (Potenza 71), Amoroso, Luci, Giorgi (Lupoli 75), Antenucci, Bernacci

Attendance: To follow.

Brescia 3-1 Sassuolo
Brescia fought back to go top alongside Frosinone with Caracciolo taking centre stage. It had been a dismal start with Zampagna springing the offside trap to put Sassuolo ahead just five minutes in. He had got a second soon after, but that was disallowed. It sparked the Rondinelle’s reaction and Flachi was brought down for Caracciolo’s penalty, then in the second half ‘The Heron’ rose above the crowd to nod in. Possanzini pounced on a poor clearance to seal the scoreline.
Scorers: Zampagna 5 (S), Caracciolo pen 35, 60 (B), Possanzini 67 (B)
Sent off: Piccioni 91 (S)
Brescia: Arcari, Rispoli, De Maio, Bega, Dallamano, Baiocco, Vass (Lopez 67), Zambelli (Salamon 83), Possanzini, Caracciolo, Flachi (Kozac 77)

Cittadella 2-1 Vicenza
Cittadella completed an impressive comeback to leapfrog Vicenza in the standings. Botta had given the visitors the lead with a splendid volley, but Iunco’s header and an Ardemagni close-range finish turned the game around completely.
Scorers: Botta 48 (V), Iunco 64 ©, Ardemagni 89 ©
Cittadella: Villanova, Pisani, Pesoli, Cherubin, Manucci, Carteri (Volpe 77), Castiglia, Dalla Bona, De Gasperi (Pettinari 59), Ardemagni, Iunco (Bellazzini 69)

Crotone 0-0 Grosseto

It was very difficult for the two teams to play any decent football on a pitch that was drenched from the thunderstorm around Crotone.
Crotone: Concetti, Abruzzese, Grillo, Galeoto, Legati, Coresi (Daud 53), Galardo, Beati, Zito, Cutolo (Petrilli 82), Gabionetta
Grosseto: Acerbis, Freddi, Turati, Conteh, Mora, Valeri, Carobbio, Job (Vitiello 79), Consonni, Joelson (Alfageme 86), Pinilla (Pichlmann 76)
Ref: Guida
Attendance: To follow.

Frosinone 2-0 Reggina
Frosinone made up for last week’s stumble to recapture the leadership alongside Brescia, but plunge Reggina into undeniable crisis. This was a high-risk game and there was crowd trouble before kick-off when Reggina ultras escaped the police cordon outside the stadium, damaging passing cars. Walter Novellino’s men have been in disastrous form with three draws and a defeat going into this game, while Frosinone were unbeaten until the weekend. Pagano and Bonazzoli aimed weak efforts at Sicignano in the first half, while Gucher finally tested the Reggina goalkeeper from distance. It was Troianiello who gave Frosinone the lead with one of their first real chances, pouncing on a Valdez defensive error. Matters deteriorated for Reggina, as six minutes later Lanzaro received his second yellow card and Cassano only parried a Tavares snapshot into the path of Basha.
Scorers: Troianiello 57 (F), Basha 80 (F)
Sent off: Lanzaro 63 ®
Frosinone: Sicignano; Del Prete, Maietta, Scarlato, Bocchetti; Gucher (Bolzoni 88), Basha; Basso, Calil, Troianiello (Aurelio 71); Jefferson (Tavares 52)

Attendance: To follow.

Gallipoli 1-0 Ancona
Abbate’s header from a corner kick will go into the history books as the goal that gave Gallipoli their first ever Serie B victory. It was overall a deserved result, as the home side had the best chances against Ancona.
Scorers: Abbate 56 (G)
Gallipoli: Garavano, Sosa, Abbate, Scaglia, Grandoni, Viana, Pedersoli, Mancini, Mounard (Franchini 88), Ginestra (Smit 71), Di Gennaro (Tarantino 94)

Attendance: To follow.

Mantova 1-2 Albinoleffe

Albinoleffe caused an upset with this away victory. Ruopolo continued his promising form by bursting into the box and netting at the near post, then after the break Previtali’s diving header doubled Leffe’s lead. Mantova managed a late consolation goal through Nassi, but little more.
Scorers: Ruopolo 18 (A), Previtali 55 (A), Nassi 78 (M)
Sent off: Fissore 90 (M)
Mantova: Handanovic, Esposito, Spinale, Notari (Salviato 33), Nicco (Tarana 58), Caridi, Malatesta (Locatelli 68), Carrus, Fissore, Lambrughi, Nassi

Ref: Baracani
Attendance: To follow.

Modena 2-0 Empoli
Empoli remain infuriatingly inconsistent for their fans, as they drop off the promotion pace. Catellani scored both goals for the Canarini, curling in a cross-shot that flashed into the top corner, then getting in front of the ‘keeper to tap in. Empoli had penalty appeals waved away for a shot that struck Troiano’s arm, as it was considered involuntary. Modena managed this victory despite missing stars Bruno and Pinardi.
Scorers: Catellani 20, 66 (M)
Modena: Narciso, Ricchi, Rickler, Diagouraga, Perna, Tamburini, Bianco (Cortellini 24), Luisi, Troiano, Girardi, Catellani (Napoli 82)

Ref: Peruzzo
Attendance: To follow.

Piacenza 0-0 Salernitana
Days after sacking Coach Fabio Brini, Salernitana finally picked up their first point of the campaign. Marco Cari got off to a strong start with a precious stalemate at the Stadio Garilli.
Piacenza: Puggioni, Capogrosso, Rincon, Iorio, Zammuto, Wolf (Bianchi 65), Sambugaro, Nainggolan, Guzman (Moscardelli 70), Tulli, Graffiedi
Salernitana: Polito, Kyriazis, Fusco, Pepe, Bastrini, Galasso (Russo 48), Soligo (Tricarico 73), Montervino, Millesi, Caputo (Ferraro 90), Cozza
Ref: Tagliavento
Attendance: To follow.

Torino 0-1 Padova
The Serie B leaders tumbled down the table after this shock home defeat to minnows Padova, who incredibly catch Toro in second place. Diana wasted the best chance of the first half by turning a free header wide and straight after the restart Di Nardo put the visitors in front with a screamer from the edge of the box. Vantaggiato and Zoboli went close to equalising, but it all got more complicated when star striker Di Michele received a second booking in a controversial incident. He felt he had been brought down for a penalty, but the referee waved the yellow for simulation.
Scorers: Di Nardo 50 (P)
Sent off: Di Michele 71 (T)
Torino: Sereni; Rivalta, Zoboli, Ogbonna, Rubin; Loviso (Coppola 60), Diana (Leon 66), Zanetti; Gasbarroni; Di Michele, Vantaggiato (Bianchi 59)

Attendance: To follow.

Triestina 1-4 Lecce
Lecce have been in dismal form recently with two points from their last four games, but stepped on the accelerator to get a crucial result in Trieste. Within three minutes Defendi had run on to a Giacomazzi assist to put the angled drive past Agazzi, then it got worse for Triestina as Gissi picked up a second yellow card. The visitors took full advantage and extended their lead with Giacomazzi meeting Angelo’s cross from the right with a downward header. It could’ve been more, but in first half stoppages both Fabiano and Baclet hit the bar during the same move. Late on Fabiano grabbed the third with a twisting header from Angelo’s ball into the box and, after a Godeas consolation penalty for Schiavi’s foul, Corvia held off a tackle to net Lecce’s fourth.
Scorers: Defendi 3 (L), Giacomazzi 37 (L), Fabiano 74 (L), Godeas pen 84 (T), Corvia 87 (L)
Sent off: Gissi 23 (T)
Triestina: Agazzi, Tabbiani, Scurto (Brosco 56), Cottafava, Sabato (Crovetto 46), Cossu (Pani 69), Gissi, Princivalli, Testini, Godeas, Volpe

Brilliant reesult for Padova to bring them level with Toro in the table. Reggina and Empoli continue to falter but Frosinone have got bakc to winning ways. Would be really interesting to see Frosinone in Serie A as their quite a small club, hopefully they won't self destruct like some other small teams that ahve gone up have, Messina, Como and Ancona for example.

Week 8 - Reports

Ascoli 1-5 Sassuolo
Leadership challengers Ascoli lost their unbeaten record in spectacular fashion, as they were thumped 5-1 in front of their home fans on Friday night. It took just over 60 seconds to break the deadlock with Polenghi’s free header. The home side equalised through Bernacci’s toe-poke, but Sassuolo took control. Noselli sprung the offside trap to make it 2-1, then lobbed the goalkeeper and completed his hat-trick on the counter. Martinetti concluded the rout with a similar move, as Ascoli were repeatedly caught out at the back.
Scorers: Polenghi 1 (S), Bernacci 9 (A), Noselli 22, 42, 50 (S), Martinetti 64 (S)
Ascoli: Frezzolini; Gazzola (Jaager 89), Portin, Silvestri, Giallombardo; Sommese (Potenza 77), Amoroso, Luci, Giorgi (Lupoli 60); Bernacci, Antenucci

Brescia 0-1 Vicenza
Brescia were stunned at the Rigamonti to fall four points off the leadership pace. Sgrigna scored the decider with a classic counter-attack and Caracciolo had the chance to equalise when he was brought down for a penalty. However, Fortin did very well to save the spot-kick and Vicenza held on to the end for a shock victory.
Scorers: Sgrigna 52 (V)
Missed penalty: Caracciolo 74 (B)
Brescia: Arcari, Zambelli (Rispoli 62), De Maio, Mareco, Lopez, Vass (Kozac 57), Baiocco, Barusso (Salamon 79), Possanzini, Flachi, Caracciolo

Cesena 3-0 Salernitana

Schelotto was the star of the show to send Cesena into second place. Do Prado created both goals for Schelotto to tap in comfortably, then Matute sealed the scoreline with a splendid angled drive from 20 yards. Salernitana are rock bottom, but also unlucky, as they hit the woodwork twice.
Scorers: Schelotto 7, 58 ©, Matute 76 ©
Cesena: Antonioli, Petras, Volta, Biasi, Lauro (Pedrelli 81), Piangerelli (Matute Ewome 71), De Feudis, Schelotto, Do Prado, Parolo, Djuric (Bucchi 60)

Cittadella 3-0 Lecce

Mantova picked up a much-needed victory after biding their time. Grosseto had the better of the first half, but were denied by the woodwork and some poor finishing. Reggina's crisis gets even deeper with this surprise defeat in dramatic circumstances, as Bruno netted with the last kick of the game. Piacenza 0-2 Frosinone

Frosinone break away at the top of the table after conquering the Garilli and hearing of helpful results from elsewhere. Torino 1-1 Ancona
Torino salvaged a point with the very last touch of the ball – just as it seemed that an Ancona wonder goal had consigned them to defeat. The Granata were looking for a victory which would see them move into second, a point behind leaders Frosinone. However, Ancona frustrated the home side in the first half where Sereni was forced to make three fine saves. But the latter was left embarrassed in minute 88 as a volley from 45 metres out by Schiattarella temporarily saw Ancona leapfrog them in the table. Yet with the clock ticking down, Rolando Bianchi headed in an Andrea Gasbarroni cross to avoid a second successive home defeat.

Triestina 2-3 Albinoleffe
Albinoleffe pipped Triestina to a five-goal thriller in which Sala had the curious experience of scoring for both teams. He accidentally deflected a cross into his own net, but made up for it 10 minutes later by tapping into the correct goalmouth. Laner turned the game around completely at full stretch on a cross from the left, but Godeas equalised by meeting a smart ball over the top. Just two minutes later, Cellini won it thanks to a crucial through ball by Ruopolo.

What a strange week! All the big teams are slipping up which is allowing Frosinone and Cesena to pull away a little bit at the top. I expected a lot more from Reggina and had hoped they'd bounce back up but that is looking less likely every week. Unfortunately Toro look like they will take over leaderhsip of the league when they sort themselves out a bit and they will in likelihood get promoted this year.

Bernacci and Antenucci went close to turning the game around completely in the second half, but wasted their opportunities and Colacone turned in Milani's assist. Vinci picked up a second yellow card at the dawn of the second half, allowing Padova to push back into the match. Rabito's right-foot curler and Di Nardo's spin in the box completed the comeback. Frosinone have been a disaster in the last few weeks and have dropped from 1st down to mid table. They need to sort it out quickly before thye get dragged down even further. If Ancona were to go up it'd be a huge suprise but a welcome one, they made a Serie A appearance a few years back and were then declared bankrupt so it would be a nice return for their fans. The big suprise for me is the teams that have come down, i expected Lecce would hover around mid table and that Reggina and Torino would lead the way but thats not the case at all. Reggina are in a very real danger of going down if they don't sort themselves out which would be a huge shame.

In the second half Mantova did all the could to win it but were denied firstly by the post and then by the linesman. Cittadella instead got another penalty and this time Iunco scored. Vicenza won a fiery local derby that saw two red cards and a saved penalty. The opening 20 minutes were action-packed, as Sestu made the most of a Renzetti error to put the visitors ahead, then 60 seconds later Trevisan tapped in a deflected Rabito free kick to equalise. Faisca brought down Bjelanovic for a red card and penalty, but Agliardi saved the spot-kick to keep Padova on level terms. On the stroke of half-time Bjelanovic got his revenge by pouncing on a Di Cesare header that had come off the crossbar. When Cesar picked up a second booking to leave Padova with nine men, it seemed to be all over, but they still threatened another goal with Di Nardo's header.

Di Carmine got between the centre-backs to turn the game around completely and Di Gennaro secured the spoils with a header in stoppages.

Torino 1-2 Crotone

Toro's crisis reaches new depths with this humiliating home defeat to little Crotone. A four-minute spell in the first half proved decisive, as disastrous defensive errors allowed Petrilli and Bonvissuto to score twice in quick succession. Bianchi nodded in his 12th goal of the season, but for all the pressure the Granata were unable to make a dent in the visitors' defence. Fans were furious and protested by leaving the stadium to wait for the team outside the car park. After five games without a win, Coach Colantuono is hanging by a thread.

Toro and Brescia really are disappointing this season, i was hoping for them to both come up but that isn't looking very promising at the moment. Ancona retain the top position but are joined by Lecce who are making a nice push towards the top of the table. Reggina finally won and got themselves out of the relegation zone but Salernitana's season has just been a huige disaster.

Week 17 - Reports

Albinoleffe 1-3 Lecce

Leaders Lecce will be on top for another week after conquering Albinoleffe 3-1 on their own turf. It was already 2-0 by the half-time break, as Corvia and a very controversial Giuliatto strike – which may or may not have crossed the line – put the visitors in a commanding position. Perico’s header brought ‘Leffe back into the game, but Corvia completed his brace. Home Coach Emiliano Mondonico was sent off for dissent.

Ascoli 1-3 Reggina

Reggina earned an important victory with 10 men, but this game will go down in history for an extremely controversial incident. Valdez was trying to put the ball out of play so that he could be substituted after sustaining an injury, but Sommese pounced to spark a counter-attack and set up Antenucci’s goal for Ascoli. This absolutely infuriated Reggina to the point that Costa was sent off for striking the ‘guilty’ Sommese. Play was halted for around five minutes as the debate raged on and when it resumed Ascoli Coach Bepi Pillon – a former Reggina chief – ordered his men to ‘make up for it’ by allowing Pagano to level the scores. Despite playing with 10 men, the Amaranto went on to win at the Del Duca with late goals from Bonazzoli and Barillà.

Brescia 2-2 Empoli

Empoli twice fought back to snatch a stoppage-time point at the Rigamonti in this promotion showdown. Brescia can kick themselves for wasting this opportunity, as they overall dominated the game. There was an early scare when Pasquato hit the post of an open goal, but the home side broke through with Caracciolo combining with Possanzini. Eder equalised on the counter set up by Pasquato, but three minutes later Caracciolo nodded in his second. Brescia seemed to be heading for victory, but in stoppages Eder was brought down by Rispoli and got back up to convert the penalty.

Cesena 4-0 Frosinone
Frosinone's crisis drags on with a humiliating defeat, but Cesena get back on track. It was one-way traffic, as Bocchetti twice had to perform goalline clearances on Volta and Franceschini before the deadlock was broken. Giaccherini's angled drive, Bucchi pouncing on a poor Sicignano backpass and Schelotto's header put the game beyond reach. Late on, Giaccherini completed his brace with a right-foot drive.

Cittadella 1-1 Modena
Modena slip down to fifth place after this stalemate. Ardemagni had given Cittadella the lead after he earned and converted a penalty for Tamburini's foul. Catellani went close, but it was Troiano who equalised by meeting Pinardi's corner kick straight after the restart. There was controversy late on, as Teoldi's effort was cleared off the line, possibly already over it.

Gallipoli 0-1 Torino
New Torino Coach Mario Beretta made the perfect debut - even if he wasn't actually on the bench. The tactician failed his medical and won't get the clearance until Monday, so assistant Daniele Zoratto took charge while he watched from the stands. It was a very bad start, as the Granata seemed slow, ineffective and pinned back by Gallipoli. Sereni kept them in the game with crucial saves on Di Carmine and Mounard, while Ginestra wasted one-on-one and Pisano risked giving away a penalty. In the second half both Scaglia and Sosa were denied by the frame of the goal. Against the run of play, Di Michele pounced on a loose ball for his first goal since September 18.
Scorers: Di Michele 65 (T)

Grosseto 2-0 Ancona

Ancona have gone from joint leaders to three points behind Lecce this weekend thanks to this defeat. Joelson converted a penalty when Milani hauled down Job, then just before half-time Surraco picked up his second yellow card. Straight after the restart Pinilla secured the points with a smart solo effort. Ancona were disappointing and only had their first chance on the hour mark with Mora's goalline clearance denying Pisacane.

Mantova 1-1 Salernitana
This result does little to boost either side. Caridi chested down Carrus' chipped pass to put Mantova in front, but Tricarico drilled in from the edge of the box. Salernitana were overall fortunate to escape with a point, as in the second half a goalline clearance on Spinale may or may not have been over.
Scorers: Caridi 8 (M), Tricarico 21 (S)

Sassuolo 2-0 Padova
Sassuolo leapfrogged Padova in the table with this victory, though everything happened in the second half. Rossini volleyed in a Salvetti cross to the back post and, after Noselli missed an open goal, Titone made it 2-0 with an absolute blockbuster from 30 metres.

Vicenza 0-0 Piacenza

Ten-men Vicenza felt they deserved more than a point as Piacenza held them to a goalles draw. The locals had good chances with Bjelanovic and Misuraca in the first half while the visitors sat back and let them take the initiave. The second half started with the same rythm and Vicenza went once again close with Fabiano before seing their defender Ferri sent off. Piacenza thought they were in for a surprise as Sambugaro missed from close distance. Then in the last few minutes Vicenza appealed for a penalty, which seemed clear, but was denied by the referee.
