I had a feeling one of the youngsters would start in midfield, I thought it would have been Jonathan Dos Santos, but 18 year old Thiago Alcantara has started. It's good to see Pep showing faith in more young players that have come through the ranks.

well, the club promised not to purchase this transfer season, so we'll be seeing a lot more of him while Keita and Toure are in Africa.

as for the first half, all i can say is LOL. you can tell it's a youth club we've fielded towards the end of the partido by the fouls all over the pitch  Palop looked stressed and upset for much of that half, which was good. the club seems to be keen on showing individual talents as well, as it's becoming more and more evident. Ibra is on for Pedro. i expect good things for the club now. should be an entertaining segundo partido.

why was Maxwell where Milito should have been, and where was Marquez and Milito anyway?

the ref is just making up for a lot of bad calls earlier. i don't see why the players are playing like kids right now. Sevilla can be outran.

Yeah, I was goin to mention this. Its a good thing reall as it will give chances for the likes of Busquets(whos looked better for me recently, even if you don't agree, he can be shakey at times and give away cheap possession, though), Thiago, Jonathan, but it could be a gamble as these players haven't really got La Liga experience yet.

Playing with the likes of Xavi and Iniesta can only make these kids better players and help them to grow into better players at a faster rate. Which is one of the plus's.

0-1 to Sevilla, Capel with a scrappy goal.

1-2 now, Ibrahimovic pulled one back after Bojan had a goal disallowed. Then Sevilla have just made it 1-2 with a penalty from Negredo. It's a much better half compared to the first, its turned into a pretty exciting game.

Capel's goal was not scrappy, the defense were just focused on the right and he was free. Bojan and Dani had their goals pulled (Dani wasn't offside and what the hell was Bojan's pulled for?) all in all, turned into a good match, and hopefully there were lessons learned all across the board.

2nd half was definitely the better of the 2. Barca were unlucky not to level it at least. I missed the penalty, what happened!? :what:

Chygrynski pulled down Capel in the box. i blame it on lack of minutes though, rather than being useless (which is hard). Maxwell was where Milito should have been and Marquez and Milito were both M.I.A. in the first goal, and then Chygrynski pulls down Capel (who was the man of the match) for Negredo to score on the spot kick. once again, Barcelona sings the "what happened to defense?" song going home after a match.

note to Pep: two rookie defenders are to be paired off with two experienced defenders at all time. Milito, Chygrynski, and Maxwell were all out of match fitness due to them never playing anymore.

Posted Image at this result. When I saw your message on msn Adrian, I thought Sevilla had a rought night. And what is my surprise when I go to Live Scores and see that they won. http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif

Quality stuff. Hopefully, Sevilla will hang on at the Sanchez Pizjuan and kick out Barcelona from the Copa.

Ref was on a mad mission with his cards tonight, gave Sevilla players plenty of time to roll around on the floor and count grass blades!

the ref was truly a spectacle on this night. for the majority of the first half and some of the second, he called biasly towards Barcelona, then for the last thirty five, complete 180.

our shots (again) failled to convert. it's not because our youths were not able to keep pace with an established top competitive club in La Liga, but rather because of bicuriosity from the ref and a couple bad decisions. this is where i'd input some crack about liking to see other top clubs in La Liga doing better, but Atletico is in a slump, Valencia will probably ease through, and Real have to wait til next season.

Did they really? I was wondering why you only scored one goal... i mean for a second i thought you only took one shot.

Or maybe because of your earlier bright assesment... you failed to convert.

Horrible match by the cheating far$as. Sevilla dominated Barcelona and Far$a could not find a way (buy a way) out of the lost.
