Instead of moving down the table at this stage as many had expected, Montpellier find themselves in second place in the Ligue 1 table (due to goal-difference). They capitalised on Bordeaux's loss to leapfrog them in the table and go joint top with Lyon!

Bordeaux go back on top, performing well against Le Mans and capitalising on Lyon's resounding 4-1 loss to Nice. Monaco move ahead of Lyon into second place whilst impressive Montpellier slip to 4th. Marseille & PSG have a game in hand following the postponement of their game at the Vélodrome.

At the bottom, Grenoble still have no points to talk about having lost all 10 matches thusfar. Several teams will be looking to pull themselves clear of the relegation zone, but at the moment there seems to be a large group of candidates.

Not too much to talk about this week. Marseille slip but have a game in hand. Valenciennes and Auxerre slide up unexpectedly into the European contention slots.

Auxerre up to third, Marseille slip to 8th after the great 5-5 draw with Lyon. They do, however, still have their game in hand with PSG. On top of that, Grenoble get their first point of the season and Boulogne slip into the drop zone following their 0-5 mauling against Lorient.

has Lyon and Lille completely swapped clubs? Lille's on a five game winning streak domestically and aside from the Lyon match, they've won those games rather convincingly. Lyon on the other hand looks very poor domestically, though their CL form has been impressive. is it already too late for them to hope for more than a CL birth? and on that note, what is in Gervinho's water bottle? i want some! he's been brilliant recently! sudden boost of form or is that the real deal?

Table updated, as you can see, Lille 9 points clear at the top and Saint Etienne dangerously close to the drop. Marseille and Lyon slip to 4th and 6th respectively with Auxerre climbing to split the two in 5th place. Lille continue their dangerous run of form to sit 2nd and Montpellier win big to claim 3rd position going into the winter break.
