Instead of moving down the table at this stage as many had expected, Montpellier find themselves in second place in the Ligue 1 table (due to goal-difference). They capitalised on Bordeaux's loss to leapfrog them in the table and go joint top with Lyon!

Bordeaux go back on top, performing well against Le Mans and capitalising on Lyon's resounding 4-1 loss to Nice. Monaco move ahead of Lyon into second place whilst impressive Montpellier slip to 4th. Marseille & PSG have a game in hand following the postponement of their game at the Vélodrome.

At the bottom, Grenoble still have no points to talk about having lost all 10 matches thusfar. Several teams will be looking to pull themselves clear of the relegation zone, but at the moment there seems to be a large group of candidates.

Not too much to talk about this week. Marseille slip but have a game in hand. Valenciennes and Auxerre slide up unexpectedly into the European contention slots.

Auxerre up to third, Marseille slip to 8th after the great 5-5 draw with Lyon. They do, however, still have their game in hand with PSG. On top of that, Grenoble get their first point of the season and Boulogne slip into the drop zone following their 0-5 mauling against Lorient.

has Lyon and Lille completely swapped clubs? Lille's on a five game winning streak domestically and aside from the Lyon match, they've won those games rather convincingly. Lyon on the other hand looks very poor domestically, though their CL form has been impressive. is it already too late for them to hope for more than a CL birth? and on that note, what is in Gervinho's water bottle? i want some! he's been brilliant recently! sudden boost of form or is that the real deal?

Table updated, as you can see, Lille 9 points clear at the top and Saint Etienne dangerously close to the drop. Marseille and Lyon slip to 4th and 6th respectively with Auxerre climbing to split the two in 5th place. Lille continue their dangerous run of form to sit 2nd and Montpellier win big to claim 3rd position going into the winter break.

Finally got round to updating this thing  .

Still very close at the top. Lille and Lyon seem to be slipping away from the title race rather than sticking with the pace. Montpellier and Auxerre are two surprising title candidates who will be happy to make do with Europe if they are unable to win the league and Marseille are giving a very good account of themselves for a late push.

Boulogne are doing their best to pull themselves out of the relegation zone and, despite a 6 point deficit, they could achieve this soon with Saint Etienne's form falling once again when they need it. Grenoble are down and out in last place having won just 3 games all season so far, and it looks like Le Mans could be going down with them.

WTF? A month back Bordeaux were cruising to another Ligue 1 title and now all of a sudden 5 other teams have a good shot at winning as well. Fucking crazy.

It's another exciting year in Ligue 1. Lyon led for a while last year until everything fell apart for them around December/January. It's becoming an exciting league once again after Lyon's dominance throughout the 2000s. Bordeaux have had plenty to prove this season, and have come up with the goods so far so it'll be interesting to see if they can continue and retain their title. Surprisingly, many expected Montpellier to have fallen flat by now, but it hasn't happened yet and they should look forward to at least Europa League football next season. The same goes for Auxerre who had challenged on occasion in the past but had become fairly mediocre in recent years, it'll be interesting to see if they can keep up their good form.

Bear in mind that Bordeaux will have 2 games in hand due to their cup final this weekend, so they could still go 3 clear at the top provided they win that game. Marseille will also have one game in hand as a result of this cup final.

Auxerre go level on points with both Montpellier and Bordeaux at the top of the Ligue 1 table. Lyon move up to 5th ahead of Marseille, but Marseille have a game in hand due to their French League Cup win over Bordeaux at the weekend. Bordeaux now have two games in hand again. PSG are slowly climbing back up the table, but the most they'll achieve is mid-table this year. It looks to be getting tight at the bottom too with Saint Etienne only 6 points away from relegation and in troubling form.

Marseille top the table with a game in hand (to be played on Wednesday). Bordeaux are in 5th but will likely sit second if they win their two games in hand due to Marseille's superior goal difference. Auxerre climb back into second, taking Montpellier's place as the surprise title challengers and are showing no signs of letting up, unlike Montpellier themselves who drop out of the Champions League spots after a 2-2 draw with Le Mans. A heated confrontation between Lyon and Lille ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning Lyon drop to third and Lille sit 6th.

PSG's run of form continues and they climb back into the top half by sitting 10th. They've struggled this season and do not look a shadow of their former selves of late. The trio in the relegation zone stays the same and it's likely it'll stay that way with Saint Etienne flying full throttle out of the relegation battle for the moment rather than staggering in and out like they did last season. Looks like it'll be Grenoble, Le Mans and Boulogne going down when all is said and done.

Marseille confirmed as champions of France, opening up a 10 point gap due to Lyon's defeat of the then-second placed side Auxerre. Lille capitalise on Auxerre's defeat to move to second place in the table, which forces Auxerre into third. Montpellier climb back up to 5th, forcing Bordeaux down and out of the European slots in 6th.

In the relegation zone, what you see is what you get with the teams leaving Ligue 1 this season being Grenoble, Boulogne and Le Mans.
