Manchester City are lining up a move for Aston Villa striker John Carew, skysports.com understands.City boss Mark Hughes has made a new forward one his top priorites this summer and Carew is now thought to be his main target after cooling his interest in Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz.City have struggled for goals this season, especially away from home, and Hughes sees powerful frontman Carew as the man who could solve their attacking problems.Hughes is thought to be a big admirer of Carew and sees the Norwegian international as the perfect foil to the likes of Robinho and Craig Bellamy.Carew has scored 11 league goals 15 in all competitions, including eight in his last 16 appearances, in a season in which he has not always first-choice in Martin O'Neill's starting XI.The former Lyon and Valencia star's future has been the subject of speculation ever since the January arrival of Emile Heskey and Villa could be tempted to sell Carew for the right offer. If Villa decide to offload Carew their asking price would prove no problem for cash-rich City who are likely to make a number of changes to their squad as they look to break into the top six next season.
Carew is probably our only decent striker at the moment...Last I heard he was the happiest he has ever been at a club and he was settled, but I'm sure others have said such a thing before. Regardless, I can't see MON accepting any offer unless it is ridiculous and even then it seems unlikely Carew would want to go to a club not even competing in Europe. I wouldn't have thought Carew would be good enough, I thought Man City would be raiding AC Milan and Barcelona this Summer.
I really hope this is a pile of shit. If we do go for him, it's actually a piss take. Carew's just a big dope upfront. Loved watching him mis-kick the ball sooo many times today. He's no better than Felipe Caicedo, someone who i want to get rid of in the summer. Why would we want to buy Carew. Barry wouldn't be sooo bad though
He won't go, he's said a million times that he's happy at Villa.
Love your comments

HAHAHA!!! Piss my sides laughing at you. You just make a dick of yourself all the time. Go back and make a new list. Gary Cahill, Guttierez, Cisse, Crouch
For god's sake. Just because Man City have bucket loads of cash, doesn't mean they now have the god-given right to sign the world's best players. Look at Kaka, he didn't want to sign for Man City because they aren't a big club. Amazing players aren't just going to go to Man City based on money (Robinho is the only exception). They want to win things and they will look and see what Man City have won and will realise that the answer is.... Fuck all!!! Its rather like My Club Newcastle actually. Except we've bought big players and THEN won fuck all!!!!!The best you will get is someone like Santa Cruz or maybe Yaya Toure, but you'll be extremely lucky to sign the latter.
Well reality might smash us in the face. But it's always best to aim higher and give it a good bash in the transfer market. No harm in that.
Heard on local radio that City could be making a double hit for Carew and Barry from Villa...that would be good buisness if' it's true.
Barry wants Champions League, and Carew is happy where he is. Not likely to happen.
Here we go the Aston Villa are better than Manchester City thread. Boring, players would love the cash, who gives a shit about the Europa League. People switch jobs for bigger pay. I would love to take the pair of them off you, just to show you that Mr Villa bullshit is non-existent. Loyalty means nothing in football.
the best striker that city can get in this summer is owen.
Doubt it, rather have David Villa
