Season Over For Ricken

Borussia Dortmund's injury nightmare continued with the news that German international Lars Ricken will be sidelined for the rest of the season after tearing cruciate ligaments.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who can also star up front, suffered the injury while training with his team-mates on Monday afternoon and is set to undergo surgery before the end of the week

The news will be a massive blow to Dortmund boss Bert van Marwijk, who is already without Czech international striker Jan Koller, Dutch forward Cedric van der Gun, youngster Sebastian Tyrala and reserve keeper Bernd Meier through injury.

Dortmund have had a frustrating season so far, drawing half of their Bundesliga games and struggling to move up the table.

Frei Tight-Lipped On Dortmund

Rennes striker Alexander Frei has refused to comment on mounting speculation that he will move to Borussia Dortmund in the winter transfer window.

The Switzerland international should be on a high after helping steer his side through a hostile confrontation with Turkey in the World Cup play-offs.

However, there are reports that Frei has been seriously affected and shocked by the violent events in Istanbul.

After being top scorer in Le Championnat last term, he has endured a difficult opening to the 2005/2006 campaign but has attracted interest from Germany.

"I will talk about it in time," he asserted. "When Pierre Dreossi, the Rennes general manager, will tell me: 'We have received an offer'.

"I will not talk before."

Frei was banned by Uefa during 2004 for a spitting incident during the defeat to England.

I agree we don't need Ailton... would be a waste on money.

His best days are behind him in my opinion.

BVB 2 -V- 1.FCN 1

Finally! BVB Wins An Away Match - Odonkor & Sahin Score At "Der Club"
borussia-dortmund.de

[26.11.] On the Bundesliga´s 14th match day, Borussia Dortmund finally has it´s first away victory of the season. Before 25,928 spectators at relegation-threatened 1. FC Nürnberg´s Frankenstadion, BVB won the match 2-1. David Odonkor (13th min) and Nuri Sahin (42nd min) were the goal-scorers. Stefan Kiessling scored for the hosts (87th min).

Constantin Blass reports from Nürnberg

Against the long-time insecure Nürnberg club, the Schwarzgelben (Black & Yellows) had an easy match in some phases. The match was only in question after the Franconian club scored its goal. BVB claimed it´s first away victory since a 2-1 victory at Schalke on 14 May 2005 and in doing so, took over fifth place in the Bundesliga standings.

Pre-Match:
The sixteenth placed Bundesliga team and also the second-worst home team hosted the Bundesliga´s seventh place team. For 1. FC Nürnberg, it was their second match under new trainer Hans Meyer. After their imposing 2-0 home victory over Hertha BSC Berlin, Borussia Dortmund was able to take another three points and move into the UEFA Cup places in the standings.

Tactics:
Hans Meyer put everything into his cards. The Nürnberg coach set his eleven just as his counterpart, Bert van Marwijk, set his BVB team - in an offensively oriented 4-3-3 system. However, instead of a sweeper in front of the defense, Meyer´s goal-hunter Stefan Kiessling ran directly into Marc-André Kruska, who as he did one week ago against Marcelinho, also put good pressure on Kiessling. Mnari and Banovic played the half-midfield positions for the hosts and their opponents were Rosicky and Sahin.

Match Comments & Analysis:
Borussia Dortmund started very tentatively in their 49th Bundesliga duel with "Der Club" and had problems with the fired up and battle-strong Nürnberg side in the first ten minutes. Within the first two minutes, Stefan Kiessling had two chances to give the hosts the lead. First, Roman Weidenfeller stopped a long-distance shot and then the BVB keeper also parried a header from the 21-year old striker.

Afterwards, the Borussen were clearly the superior team. Smolarek should have made the score 2-0 with a header after a Sahin corner, but Mnasri cleared the effort off the line for Nürnberg. Buckley also had a chance after a nice move. Nürnberg only provided one dangerous moment. However, Vittek´s shot in the 39th minute was not a problem for Weidenfeller. Just before halftime, BVB struck again: Odonkor played the ball to the back of the Nürnberg defense. Sahin played the ball with his right foot and sent a lined shot into the back of the Nürnberg net for the 2-0 halftime lead.

After halftime, Bert van Marwijk had to shift his personnel. Dede remained in the locker room injured while right winger Degen enterned the match in the Brazilian´s place. Therefore, Kringe moved to the left back position. Nürnberg coach Hans Meyer also made a substitution. Vittek was replaced by Sven Müller to strengthen the midfield. However, it changed little in the match. The "Club" was too tentative and BVB very sure on the ball, but not cool enough in front of the opponent´s goal.

The Schwarzgelben wasted chances to put the match away through Buckley (52nd and 87th min) and Kringe (66th min). Nürnberg, who finally awoke in the middle of the second half, had goal chances from Banovic (66th min) and Kiessling (71st min) but left them to blow away in the cold wind. Stefan Kiessling was able to score a "cosmetic goal" for Nürnberg in the 87th minute. In the end, Borussia registered it´s 23rd victory over the Franconian club. BVB also remains unbeaten in 13 consecutive matches with Nürnberg.

Outlook:
Borussia Dortmund hosts Hannover 96 on December 3rd at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK. Tickets for the match against the Niedersachsen club are still available at recognized ticket outlets.

Ailton Fancies Dortmund Move

Unhappy Besiktas striker Ailton has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Borussia Dortmund.

The Brazilian hit-man is desperate to quit Besiktas, despite spending less than six months with the Turkish outfit.

Ailton joined Besiktas in the summer from Schalke, but has been unable to settle and appears at loggerheads with the club.

Earlier this week, he was fined £58,000 for a recent sending off for kicking an opponent in the groin.

His plight has alerted both Dortmund and Cologne, with Ailton anxious to return to Die Bundesliga in January.

Though Cologne are interested, the hot shot has suggested that he would relish the chance to sign for Dortmund.

"I want to move as soon as possible to Dortmund," Ailton told Bild.

"I pray they let me go as soon as possible."

Yes, it´s like this.

Franconians and Bavarians are like Badenser and Swabians.

Atletico Close In On Rosicky

Thomas Rosicky's agent is confident that Atletico Madrid can land the player from Borussia Dortmund in January after he agreed a four-year deal with the Spanish club, but the move hinges on the offer they make to the Germans.

Pavel Paska confirmed that he held negotiations with Los Colchoneros recently and that he hopes that everything can be wrapped up before the New Year.

The Czech international midfielder has stated his desire to move to La Primera and cash-strapped Dortmund would accept a deal if it were close to their €15 million (£10 million) asking price.

"I was in Madrid last week and spoke to the manager of the club," Paska said. "I hope that everything can be done this month.

"It is clear that a very important role in the negotiations will be the transfer fee that Atletico Madrid are prepared to pay."

Rosicky has had reported disputes with his team-mates after stating his desire to move away from Dortmund in the German press, but team coach, Bert Van Marwijk still sees him as a key player.

The 25-year-old was sent off on Saturday in his side's 2-0 demise against Eintracht Frankfurt in what could prove to be his last appearance for the club.

Atletico are said to be ready to offer around €10 million (£6,750,000) for his services leading to lengthy negotiations reminiscent of the protracted talks that saw Martin Petrov move to El Calderon in the summer.

Dortmund Set Rosicky Deadline

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed they have entered into negotiations with Atletico Madrid for Tomas Rosicky, but insist a deal must be agreed by next week if the midfielder is to move to Spain.

The Primera outfit are determined to take the Czech star to the Vicente Calderon when the transfer window re-opens in January.

It is believed Borussia have rejected Atletico's opening offer and are holding out for around €15 million.

Los Rojiblancos are unwilling to meet that figure and the deal is further complicated by the fact that a percentage of Rosicky's rights are held by a private investor.

The German club agreed to sell the rights for a substantial sum to ease their crippling debts, but that now means that any fee they receive for the player will have to be shared.

As a result they are trying to secure the highest amount possible and are also keen for Atletico to pay the figure in one or two lump sums rather than in a series of instalments as is commonplace in Spain.

A deal still looks possible as the Spaniards are desperate to bolster their squad which has struggled badly for goals in the first half of the season.

Rosicky himself appears happy to move, but the transfer now hinges on whether the two clubs can reach a compromise figure and Dortmund have set a deadline of next week as they want time to arrange contingency plans if the 25-year-old does depart the Westfalen Stadion.

"It must be decided within the first half of the next week," Borussia's business manager Hans-Joachim Watzke stated. "We have to be sure what our plans are."

If Rosicky passes to Atletico, Borussia will have to seek new midfielder.

Will give a lot of cash for new and they will begin winning more games.
