Baggies agree Dutch deal

Heerenveen have agreed a deal to sell defender Gianni Zuiverloon to West Bromwich Albion.

The Dutch club have confirmed on their official website that Zuiverloon is heading to the Premier League new boys.

Zuiverloon is expected to sign a three-year contract at the Hawthorns, with the option of a further 12 months.

Reports in Holland suggest the fee for the 21-year-old, who was under contract at Heerenveen until 2010, is in the region of 4million euros (£3.2million).

The youngster has been a regular in the Heerenveen side for the past two seasons after starting his career at Feyenoord.

He has been included in Holland's squad for the Olympic Games in Beijing in August and was part of the team which won the European Under 21 Championship last summer.

Zuiverloon admits it is a wrench to leave his current club, but he could not pass up the opportunity to move to the Premier League.

"It was difficult for me to leave a club like Heerenveen, but this is a fantastic next step in my career," Zuiverloon told De Telegraaf.

"I have already been there once and the club made a good impression on me.

"Tomorrow, I will be introduced to my team-mates and, after that, I hope to be on the training field quickly.

He's a good, young defender and I think he'll have a good spell at West Bromwich Albion. Watched him at EURO U-21 Championships recently, and I was impressed. Good work by Mowbray. Herenveen felt it was time to let him go, and Mowbray signed him up. I can't wait to see how he performs in the Premier League.
