I figured we needed to have one, as this is the Spanish football board, and la Segunda División hosts quite a few good teams and is one of the best second divisions in the world. I guess we can also discuss the even lower tiers of Spanish football - Segunda B, Tercera, etc. - for teams we like to keep an eye on.

QUOTE
Numancia back on the highest level

After three seasons of absence, Numancia returns to the Primera División. The squad, led by Gonzalo Arconada, achieved this feat by holding on to a 0-0 draw against Deportivo Alavés. In the previous two seasons Numancia just missed out on promotion. This season, however, the club hailing from Soria proved to have a balanced squad. Only Sporting Gijon scored more goals (57 against Numancia's 53), while goalkeeper Jacobo conceded less goals than any of his colleagues in the Segunda División.

The battle for the remaining two promotional spots is being fought out between Gijon, Málaga, and Real Sociedad. Castellón has but a theoretical chance left.

I'd like to see Malaga back in the top flight. They aren't a bad side with a good fanbase.

Ever since Real Sociedad came close to winning the La Liga, I have a soft spot for them. They seem to be doing well after Chris Coleman left.

Tenerife.

Tenerife have the craziest fans in Spain, mostly due to British influence. They'd be great as well.

I think he's referring to the time when Barcelona bribed Tenerife to beat us on the last matchday so they could win the title.

what happened to Racing Ferrol and Gimnàstic? they had regularly checked into the upper division, but it's been a while since i've heard anything positive from either. and funny thing you should mention Tenerife Scudetto, i was going through the history of the UEFA Cup, and laughed when i saw that they beat Lazio all those years ago. got beat by Schalke though...but still, was pretty funny to me...

I want to see Rayo Vallecano back, even if they come from a scum barrio. Four Madrid teams in the Primera División would be lol.

Rayo Vallecano was in third division and they just won it. Next season they will be in Segunda Division.

Yeah, I know. They were close last year I think so I'm glad they came a step closer to a possible return to la Primera. Rayo always one of those yoyo clubs I liked having around, so I hope to see them soon again.

why? i don't think that they could make an impact at their curret state. maybe a few seasons ago when anyone could finish around the mid table, but i think that the league would eat them up right now. but i'd welcome almost anyone with open arms right now at the expence of seeing Athletic Bilbao regulated, then by some freak occurance, reduced to the Tercera División one day biggrin.gif

Athletic de Bilbao must stay forever in Primera. They are a historical club, they are more than just a club. I want to see them regulated again, wining against real madrid and rising the basque flag after that.

Well then they didn't have much to be waving around with lately, eh? shutup.gif

Except if you meant to spell 'whining' that is. laugh.gif

bringing it back.

anyone catch the beatdown by Hercules put down on Cordoba? also to note, both Levante and Real Sociedad won their league openers, while Real Zaragoza dropped points against none other than Levante (and lol at the fact they face Real Sociedad next). i don't see them going anywhere soon with the sales of Diego Milito, Cesar Sanchez, Sergio Garcia, and Pablo Aimar.

Welcome, Xerez, Tenerife and Zaragoza( thumbdown.gif ), back to La Liga!

Alaves, Alicante, Eibar and Sevilla Atletico are the relegated teams, and can anybody clarify the teams which will be getting premoted to the Segunda?

Anyway, I will look forward to seeing the return of Tenerife this year.

I'm not sure, as I don't know much about the Segunda, but maybe this could help?

Thanks, this is what I have been looking for, a league table. I could only find the La Liga and Segunda ones.

Is that table correct then? I have no clue whether it's right or not, this is just what I found from searching 'Segunda' in a Google search.
