Place of birth: Southport, England
Playing position: Centre-back

Jack Rodwell is an English football player, currently playing for Everton F.C. Jack captained the England Under 16 side to Victory Shield glory in December 2006.

He made his Everton Under-18s debut as a 14-year old and his Reserves debut, in October 2006, aged just 15. Rodwell replaced Scotland international David Weir in the second half of a fixture with Sheffield United. He was part of the first team side that faced Northern Ireland in a pre-season friendly before the 2007/08 season.

Jack is the nephew of former Blackpool winger Tony Rodwell.

Jack has been tipped by many as a great defender and one who could make it to the top. Touted to have a great future ahead of him by Everton youth team coach Ray Hall, Rodwell has established himself as a reserve team regular at the age of only 16.

Jack also captains England under 18s team and scored the first English goal at the new Wembley.

Many pundits in the game have compared Rodwell to Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand & Tottenham & England defender Ledley King due to his pace and perfection in the centre of the back four.


Will be a great defender, already rejected offers off Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool to stay with us. He's got his head screwed on (I've spoke to him a few times on MSN) - really nice lad.

Can't wait to see him play, the youth cup in a few weeks will give me a great chance, I can't wait.

He plays in midfield for the academy although his long term future will be at centre back , very good on the ball quick good in the air and solid in the tackle , hes also a very good talker and organiser for one so young hence him being England captain.

A bright future for him.

He is our youngest ever player in Europe, and I think the record was the fact we are the first team to win at AZ in europe.

He is the youngest player to play in a proper European game (qualifications not included). This lad is a gem and will be an Everton regular within a couple of seasons.

Made his Premier League debut today, coming on in the 87th minute for Tim Cahill in central midfield. Got a couple of touches, it's hard to believe the lad is only 16.

amazing player,i have played against him,he signed a pro contract just days after his 17th birthday,he might not be a regular this season but 08/09 season he will be,played against sunderland first team the other day aswell as making an apperance in the uefa cup,the toffees have got a good player who seems commited to them and i don't think he will do a rooney on them.

He had best not do a Rooney on us, Rodwell is a quality player for his age, and should have a great career ahead of him in years to come, its good to see that he wants to stay here as well
