For the first time all year I'm feeling a sense of relief, we may just do this.
:::fingers crossed:::

Have you heard anything about Duisburg and in particular a young Aussie named Dario Vidosic and how he is performing?
He was loaned out to MSV during the January window for game time ahead of the World Cup.

Last I remember reading was that Nurnberg were keen on his play out on loan and had no plans of letting him go. So he must be doing something right.

Got to see Preussen Muenster on Fri (not the biggest of games I know) and BVB v Leverkusen on Sat. Highlight though was Fortuna Dusseldorf v FCK. Absolutely outstanding result for FCK! Fortuna were top of the league for performances at home with more points than other in the league - and I can see why. Not only were they by far the better footballing side, and deserved to win by a couple of goals, but their 35,000 fans (for a live tv game in div 2) were superb - a wall of noise for the entire 90 minutes.
In fairness to FCK they did all the could to try and get a goal in the first half, but changed tactics over half time when they realised they couldn't penetrate the Fortuna backline. \\Sitting back nearly proved costly however like a true Championship winning side they held on for another vital point.
Quick point on some of the players - as always Sippel and Sam impressed, and Amedick as always was the most consistent defender. Rodnei was decent too though he still has that occasional mental block every now and then. The fans I spoke to seem to rate Bugera highly though I've never been a fan myself and Florian Dick was just totally lost for most of the game - no change there then!
In midfield Sam again looked the main danger man, especially in the first half and I was pleasantly surprised by the potential of Steinhofer. Bilek looked decent at times then faded as the game progressed. Mandjeck however, again, was miles out of his depth and I suspect he will be one of the first to be shown the door when we go up. Up front Jendrisek was excellent and Nemec I'm still not sold on. Lakic came on but didn't look match-fit - Ilicevic on the other hand was electric when he came on - and I see he has scored tonight too.
4-0 victory tonight over 1860 was even better than I hoped - not only does that maintain the 6 point lead at the top but, more importantly, gives an 8 point cushion for automatic promotion with just 6 games left.
A quick look ahead to next season and I think the prognosis looks good. I do worry that we wont have much to spend however given the fact we still have substantial debt and that we had to find the extra money this season for the taxman. At least 4 quality signings must be brought to the club - a central midfielder is an absolute must as we will simply be over-ran at that spot in the top league with the current starters. And if there's no sign of Mathias Abel coming back fit then a right back must be sought as a priority. Might I suggest youngster Tony Jantschke of Gladbach who I thought put in a really accomplished performance when asked to step up into the first team for the game on Sunday v Hamburg. It wouldn't hurt to bring in another striker too as well as a left back.
Let the good times roll in K-Town!

Be rather nice if Düsseldorf beats St. Pauli.

Had Falkirk beaten Kilmarnock today, Killie would have finished bottom and been relegated from the SPL. Killie are still in a substancial amount of debt and there would have been very worrying times ahead for Ayshire's finest. Alas (first and last time I've ever used that word!) the game ended 0-0 and instead it's Falkirk - king of the paranoia were it not for Celtic FC, who deservedly go down instead. Congrats to all at Kilmarnock Football club.
And whilst its may be me being biased, but how about a second deserved shout-out to Killie midfielder - and former Clyde player ;-) Craig Bryson who had an excellent game, as usual, in midfield. Technically he should have scored once or twice but that's me nit-picking! Now come join the Jambos (Hearts) Bryso - you know it makes sense!
Back on track and here's hoping Kaiserslautern edge out Augsburg tomorrow to get the required 3 points to guarentee them being promoted as champions.
Aint life good in K-Town?

Will be definitely tough, even if Augsburg have been a bit inconsistent lately. We'll see if you make it to be crowned champions tomorrow, but welcome to the 1.Bundesliga anyways!

Haven't posted here for a wee while so thought I'd come on with my congratulations for the Bundesliga 2 Champions !
Can't wait for the fixture list to come out so I can make arrangements for my annual trip.
It was a helluva day at Kilmarnock yesterday , queues outside the Sports Bar meant that I'd no chance of a beer before the match http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/sad.gif however soon made up for it afterwards http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/hh.gif x many !!!
A wee bit disappointed at your pro-jambo comment re raig Bryson though. http://www.totalfootballforums.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/shakehead.gif
The lad is too good for our league and hopefully he'll get a move to a decent club down south or perhaps a spell in Germany instead .
Hope your team can get back up next season !
Cheers ,

With the obvious exception of this season, I would favour FCK adopting the Bochum blueprint for life in the Bundesliga. They were in a frightening amount of debt for a club of their size, yet to their credit were able to pay off around £2mill euros worth of debt each season whilst still remaining a Bundesliga club. FCK will obviously have a bigger budget due to a larger fanbase and this should hopefully see us through. Rumour has it that the annual wage bill will increase from 8.5mill eruos to 15 million euros, so we should have more than a fighting chance of staying up. The key will obviously be in attracting the right calibre of player to the club - we can't afford too many misses on the transfer front.
Onto the playing staff itself and losing striker Eric Jendrisek to Schalke on a Bosman was a huge blow. Furthermore Stefan Kuntz has hinted that retaining the services of star player Sydney Sam will be difficult as reportedly Hamburg are keen to welcome him back. Most teams who come up look to add three or four quality signings to the decent players already in the team. We on the other hand are fighting an uphill battle having lost argubaly our two best players with no income coming in.
Priorities should include 2 new fullbacks, a winger, a central midfielder and a striker. And that isn't me focussing on squad players - that's me talking about 5 quality players who would instantly start from day one. I absolutely love the fullbacks at Nurnberg - Pinola and Diekmeier, and see them as a big upgrade over the current incumbents Bugera and Dick. It would therefore be in my best interest if Nurnberg lost the relegation play-off battle. Pinola is infact out of contract anyway. Ideally I'd like Sam to be the winger, but the fact we have already signed Kirch (a right midfielder) makes me think this is unlikely. New signing Tiffert will be an instant upgrade over Mandjeck but I still think we need a real quality central midfielder to boss the opposition. I love Srdan Lakic up front but he needs a new partner with Jendrisek moving on. Klose has been mentioned and although he appears to have lost his apetite, I think a move back to K-town could be the very thing that will reinvigorate him.
The next 8 weeks or so will be a very intersting time for the FCK faithful - I only hope we attract some decent signings who can keep us where we belong.

ps Killie97 - good to hear from you. Apologies for Bryson thing but when I was younger I used to go see the Jambos purely because of Jefferies. I had been going to watch various division 1 games and had identified several hidden gems who I knew could cut it at SPL level. Over the next 2 season JJ ended up signing 80% of them so I joined that bandwagon and as you know he led them to great times. Now that he's back I anticipate more of the same. Whilst United lose Webster, JJ gets Darren Barr on a free. Jambos for 3rd next season me thinks! (And Killie to be saved due to impending league reconstruction - kidding, sort of).
