Club & Ground Name
Aston Villa, Villa Park.

How Easy Was It To Find?8/10
Easy. Got train there from Birmingham New Street to Aston Station.

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free? Was It Well Policed/lit?
There's a few away from the ground. Big car park for away buses. And plenty of Police about.
10/10

View. Pillar In The Way?
no problems at all.

10/10

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)No leg room for a person of my height what so ever. Stood for majority of game.0/10.

Toilets.
Normal for a footy ground.

6/10

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Conductive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere
Decent atmosphere from home fans at times. No fans near us we were ok in parts.5/10

Stewards, Policing
Stewards were fine. Police kicked out a few lads during second half and Police were very slow to stop the trouble some of our lads were causing outside after the game.

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?
Went into a an away pub called the Cap n Gown I think. Nice pub, £1 to get in.
Friendly enough people in there.

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?I'd give it 7/10. The stand we were in the leg room was poor, but good atmosphere and three impressive stands.

8/10

CLUB: ASTON VILLA
GROUND NAME: VILLA PARK
CAPACITY: 42,750
ADDRESS:
CLUB WEBSITE: www.avfc.co.uk
TICKET OFFICE PHONE NUMBER:
CLUB NICKNAME (if any): THE VILLIANS

DATE OF THE MATCH: 27/08/2005
WHAT MATCH HAD BEEN PLAYED: ASTON VILLA V BLACKBURN ROVERS
SCORE: 1-0
TIMES VISITED: 3

WHATS THE GROUND LIKE? Ie: enclosed, different stands, traditional, roofs? One corner of the ground is enclosed, which is the away fans corner. One of the stands is the huge Holte End, one of the biggest END goals in the country, and Villa`s version of the KOP. The trinity road stand is also quite a large stand is three tiered. The stand away fans are accommodated in is the North stand. Away fans often get around 3,000 tickets. In the first tier of that stand.
IS IT A MODERN GROUND, NEW, OLD? Does it look aged? The ground looks quite new, although none of the stands are really modern. The inside of the away end however does show the age of that particular stand.
COMFORT: ie: view, seating, leg room, was there a roof? The view is not really good as the stand is not a steep slope, the seating and leg room however is average. There is a roof on the stand, although if it rained you would get wet.
STEWARDING/POLICING? Was t strict? Or lax? The stewards were quite strict on standing, on my last visit the game was a police free game, which led to problems at the end when the villa fans and Blackburn fans that came on the coached clashed, I don’t know why, but its not the first time this has happened between the two teams.
CATERING: ie: beer price, food price, long queues?, quality? The catering is brilliant, there is a very wide range of food available. The prices are quite normal for a football ground, also in the concourse is a programme shop, with hundreds of programmes from past games, its quite a good idea and I thought it was great.
PUBS: was there an away pub? Friendly? Near to the ground is an pub which is half and half, which has its own room and entrance for away fans, it is called the Cap and Gown. However there is an admission fee, I think it is £1, I cant remember though. The pub is at the end of the road at the side of the ground, when facing the away end, it is on your right.

DIRECTIONS: how did you get their, car, train, coach? Say how you got there
TRAIN: From Birmingham New Street, get a train to Witton train station. The journey lasts about 10minutes, and the train station is practically outside the ground, but you have to walk around a road to get to the ground. The Cap and Gown is outside the station too. Trains are quite frequent to the station.
If you go by coach, the club has a coach car park for visiting fans, it is outside the away end.
CAR:
CAR PARKING? Was it near, price, safe?

LOCAL RIVALS? Birmingham City
WAS IT AN HOSTILE PLACE TO VISIT? Dangerous for the away fan? Should you cover up your shirt? Two times out of three it wasn’t, but on my first visit it wasn’t pleasant, as the home fans tried bricking our coaches, must have been something to do with Yorkes two goals.
TICKET PRICES? How much did you pay? For Blackburn fans we paid £28 adults
FANZINES? Mainly for home fans, what fanzines are on sale?
AVERAGE ATTENDENCE? Do you know, if not doesn’t matter
HOTELS? Did you stay overnight? Recommend a place here
WOULD YOU LIKE THE REVIST THE GROUND? Yes, I like my visits to this ground.
OVERALL WHAT DO YOU RATE THE GROUND
8/10

we got the coach. But the ground is very easy infact you can see it off the motorway, ab it tricky when you get closer to it though.

View. Pillar In The Way?
The lower tier has a terrible view, even stood up it is beneath pitch level. no pillars though!
4/10

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)
Stood Up, but we didnt get wet. 6/10

Toilets.
didnt go

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Conductive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere
The home contigent is completely opposite in the famous holte end, they seat right at the back of the upper tier making it hard for anyone to hear them, the away end is also low but still good for atmosphere as we have been complimented. 5/10

Stewards, Policing
Didnt notice the stewards at all, the police were out in force however marshalling us towards the turnstiles.
7/10

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?
we arrived late therefore i cant comment

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves? The ground is simply superb, and has bags of character the view from the away end is quite a sight looking uo at the huge holte end. however it is lacking in mordernisation.

7/10

Ask the Coach Driver, took around 2 hours.

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free? Was It Well Policed/lit?
Yeah coach parking just over the road outside of the stadium.

View. Pillar In The Way?
no, no pillars whatsoever.

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)
Never sat down, no roof of what i remember, shitty weathered seats.

Toilets.
Stinking, dirty and full...

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Conductive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere
Decent atmosphere from home fans at times.
A fella in the upper teer from us, giving it the w*nker and fcuk off

Stewards, Policing
Policed quite well, stewards arrogant little pigs no leway, food disgusting dry as the crust of bread.

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?
4 of us walked around singing, got some dirty iraqi, saying "you are going to get beat" so i obviously told him what do.

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?

The ground deserves a visit from the Health & Safety, Food Hygiene and a bit of a revamp.
5/10

Overall i liked it, one of the best atmospheres and games i've been to.

Im villa through and through and think some of your comments are pretty fair. As for the comments on the stewards, Yes they are idiots - yes they are power mad! Guarentee (i sit in the holte upper) where we sit home fans always having confrontation with stewards.

Got the coach, parked in the car park right outside the ground so yeah it was píss easy to find.

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free? Was It Well Policed/lit?
See above, very easy to find. Even Stevie Wonder could have seen it from were we parked.

View. Pillar In The Way?
No, looked around the ground there wasn't one in sight, which is great.

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)
Normal, I'm use to plenty of leg room as I sit on the front row at Goodison Park, but it was average I'd say, like most away games.

Toilets.
They were pleasant.

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Conductive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere
When they sing, believe me... they sing. Ground was shaking when they scored, I'd say we did make a good atmosphere, filled our allocation which is impressive for a Monday night game which is on Sky. Good atmosphere throughout the game between both sets of fans.

Stewards, Policing
Nice yeah, when we was all getting searched they asked us how we was which was a step up from Sheffield United, who were horrible jobs worth bástards.

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?
Well, once we got there we went round to see the Everton team arrive, then went into the match so we didn't really look.

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?
8.5/10, really nice stadium. I was expecting it to be extremely average, but it's class. The outside looks abit outdated, but that if anything adds more to how good the ground is. One of the best "old" stadiums in the Premiership, I liked it...

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Condusive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere

No chance, i was sitting in the north stand by the away fans and apart from at the start we couldn't hear a thing from you, there was a fantastic atmosphere that day and the crowd we're a 12th 13th and 14th man

don't know, got the coach

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free? Was It Well Policed/lit?
Nice big space just over the road from the stadium

View. Pillar In The Way?
Had the sun in my eyes all game (Not that that's Villa's fault laugh.gif), but otherwise had a clear view of the pitch. Quite close to the pitch as well

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)
Shit leg room, especially considering we had to sit all match

Toilets.
Average

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Conductive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere
Was alright. The stand nearest us (North Stand I think) was making the majority of the noise, it sounded like

Stewards, Policing
Had to wait outside the stadium for about twenty minutes, then we were searched on our way in. I know I haven't been to many away games, but does searching happen at many other grounds? unsure.gif Felt it was a bit un-necessary like, we're away supporters not terrorists. Then the stewards inside the ground made us sit. As for police, they were fucking everywhere. Loads on horses as well

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?
Went to the Cap & Gown which charged for getting in, was far too small to accomodate the number of away fans and the "beer garden" we were made to stand in was shit tbh laugh.gif
There were plenty of burger vans etc on the way in though, so you're not short of summit to eat

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?
Nothing much to look at from the outside, but the inside of the ground is nice enough. Atmosphere was ok, stewards were wank. The food I bought outside the stadium was ok. don't know, was an alright day out but I think I was expecting a bit better? Don't think i'll go again next season tbh sad.gif

The away fans don't get to go in the two best stands - The Holte and the Trinity.

The Doug Ellis is very cramped because of the road, and the North Stand is a concrete mess and needs demolishing quick.

Atmosphere can be quiet for the away fans, but recent years there have been a few larger louts move to the north stand lower who always make a bit of noise by the away fans, but believe me when I say there is always singing in the holte upper although so little of it carries to the other end. In big matches, VP is one of the best atmosphere in england without doubt.

Glad it gets approval though, I love it and wouldnt change it for anything
