Liverpool vs Manchester United final for me, that would be incredible.

That'd be a nightmare for UEFA and the policing and stuff out there, there's guarenteed to be loads of trouble if that happened, especially with fans going out a few days before and drinking nearly all day!

And you can bet your next mortgage they'll find a way to play it at lunch time GMT as well.

Valencia, MUFC, PSV and Milan to go through.
Koeman will outsmart Benitez.

You really seem to have a chip on your shoulder about Liverpool, every round you tip them to go out, you've said before we play boring football etc.

I don't see why you take offensive to it, it's no different than you saying we'll drop points in almost every Premiership thread this season, and like derek-g always wishing us to lose etc.

I'm dead chuffed with this draw. I love Roma, I love Spalletti, I love their style of play. Plus they're more than beatable. I always feel more comfortable playing teams like Roma, rather than teams a few levels below you like Lille, where the pressure is always on you to win that 10/10. Neither Munich or Milan strike me as the force they once were in years gone bye, the best draw we could've got I think. I would've hated to play PSV, they're with Liverpool the most negative team left in, and we can't play against teams like that, not in the form we're in at the moment anyway.

Personally, might just be me here but I do actually think were gonna have Chelsea vs Liverpool semi and Man utd vs Bayern semi.

I cant see Man Utd loosing this one, just cant. Somthing inside of me is saying the same aswell. They are a jammy team for nothing :P
Chelsea when in some sort of form are better than Valencia, no question about that to me. And PSV are just lucky to be here.

Im not taking offence i am just making a point, i perfer people to hate us to be honest and say we are going to lose because we always prove them wrong.

And saying Manchester United are going to drop points is a fair point, i said the same thing about Chelsea, both will towards the end of the season it is only natural as the season gets on, latter stages of cup competitions, tired players, injuries etc will take there toll and teams will drop points.

Well I don't think you're being honest, otherwise why did you bother to pick '-Off Side-' up on his prediction?

And so is suggesting Liverpool might no get through here and so was suggestion Liverpool might not get through against Barcelona. I don't see what the big deal is here.

I really believe Liverpool will stumble. Sure, my usual inclination towards Liverpool's opposition might influence my predictions, but there are some teams you just don't take to heart very well.
I also believe Koeman is the greatest mind in football today. After seeing Liverpool play against his team, he has underlined both the strength and the weakness of the squad. I think Benitez would have prefered Valencia, or even AS Roma.
The CL games are far away though, and untill then anything might happen. This is esp. true in La Liga and in Germany.
As for now, 2 weeks away from seeing my NT get sluaghtered by Holland.
Internationals, here we come! hh.gif

ManU-Roma and Milan-Bajern are the ones I want to watch, very big ties indeed.

For us this draw is mixed. I prefer being the underdogs in Europe. Barca did not give us enough respect and were second best over the two legs. The same happened with Leverkusen and Juventus back in 2005.

The good news is that we've played PSV before this season. We know that we can outclass them. However, they're a team I really would have liked to skip. People say we play boring football when we try to have a high possession high pressure game, which confuses me, but Koeman's teams do play boring, but successful football. Not a dig at Koeman at all (we had Houllier, who mastered the same style) but we struggle against teams who put 11 men behind the ball.

This is the kind of game where we really could have used Luis Garcia and his moments of magic.

Trying to predict who will win the champions league is impossible. It is such a great spectacle this year as any team could win it.

Valencia v Chelsea: A hard game to call. I sincerely believe that the spanish style of football is the best in the world. It is certainly the best to watch. Valencia are in good shape this season, unlike madrid and barcelona. Personally I think the class of david villa and the defensive strength of valencia could mean a valencia win here. It will be close.
valencia

Liverpool v PSV: I cannot forsee liverpool going much further. They are the weakest team left in the competition along with psv. The only thing liverpool have going in their favor is that they have a month to prepare for this game as it is the only trophy they can win this season. That is a big advantage over other contenders. There is a lot of positive thinking coming from anfield and their fans. The fact remains they lost to barcelona and lost to manchester united in recent games. I don't concur that they were unlucky. They weren't good enough.
PSV

Roma v Manchester United: If you had said Manchester v Roma in the 1/4 final before the season started I would have snapped your hand off. But Roma look a dangerous side. Roma have never got this far in the champions league. It is new territory for them but equally they are somewhat of an unknown quantity to united. Clearly I want manchester united to win but it wont be a walk in the park
Manchester United

AC V Munich: Milan have good players but always seem to through away good situations in europe
Munich

Semi finals

Manchester v Munich
Valencia v PSV

I'll try not mixing any emotions with what I'm about to say...

I think no team is capable of stopping Man UTD. Don't take me wrong, Man UTD might lose their first-leg match-up with AS Roma. But that doesn't stop their ambitions from winning the overall aggregate game and proceeding to the semi finals.

Manchester is in good form lately. And besides, we all know how Italian teams function. They defend very vigorously in away matches, and always rely on winning in their home grounds. That doesn't work all the time, because they'll ultimately find themselves in inescapable situations.

Italian teams are usually successful when they play away first, then play at home. This gives them the chance to draw at their opponent's grounds, making them rely on their home soil during the second-leg match-up.

This time, however, it's likely that it won't happen. Notice how AC Milan and AS Roma are playing their home games first. Trust me, the last thing an Italian team wants to do is rely on winning at Old Trafford. So this would eventually put stiff pressure on AS Roma to win their home game. And we all know that pressure only means one thing: reduced chances of winning the game.

The same applies to AC Milan and their German opponents. So don't act too suprised when you see Man UTD and/or Bayern through to the semis.

Having said that, let's not mock Italian clubs either. Sure they might not have the best football stadiums or logos, but they certainly do have a lot of talent. What stops them isn't lack of talent, but the pressure they have to live with under home game situations.

As to Liverpool and PSV, I think PSV could make it once but not twice. Don't expect too many suprises in the Champions League tournament. Fair enough, they deserved beating Arsenal. But seriously, there's no pride in beating the 2007 Arsenal squad. They are no better than the under-rated English sides such as the likes of Sheffield Wednesday. They're having their bad years lately. One's thing for sure, if PSV could beat Arsenal in the upcoming seasons then they have every reason to feel proud of their achievements.

Finally, I'd like to end this by saying that the toughest prediction would involve Valencia CF and Chelsea FC. Here I'm afraid I cannot make a final prediction but I wish all the best for the English side. smile.gif

AC Milan vs Bayern Munich
I think that this is the most unpredictable of the four matches. Munich have been very consistent in the Champions league, AC Milan lacked the goals but with Ronaldo I think theyve solved that problem. The games will be tight and edgy, I can Milan sneaking into the Semi's perhaps only on away goals.
Winner: AC Milan

PSV vs Liverpool
Liverpool will be confident after knocking out the reighning champs. I think a surprise maybe on the cards though. PSV will win the home leg and liverpool will struggle to recover. I hope they prove me wrong.
Winner: PSV

Roma vs United
This game is the easiest to predict, United are on great form at the moment and i can see them winning comfortably at home and away. Although have a decent team, they are way out of their depth.
Winner: United

Chelsea vs Valencia
An upset is on the cards here. Chelsea were lucky to even get this far. I think the fans expect too much and I think valencia will win.
Winner: Valencia

Semis:
AC Milan vs PSV
United vs Valencia

Final:
AC Milan vs United

Winners:
United
