Name: Madejski Stadium
Capacity: 24,200

What the match been played: Reading V Blackburn
Date of the Match: 16/12/06

How Easy Was It To Find?

Pretty easy, well sign posted and can see the stadium from a distance

8/10

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free?

Unless you had a permit then it looked awful! Its near a shopping complex, but thats full of shoppers. I was lucky as I stayed in the Madejski hotel and it had its own car park

7/10

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)?

Pretty good - a lot of leg room and a roof! but the seats were average

7/10

Catering (Quality, price, queues)

Average like most football clubs really

7/10

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?

Theres lots of shops and places to eat eg. McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC etc but not really any pubs

7/10

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Condusive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere

Home fans were good, but nothing special - the best area of home supporters seemed to be in one corner and there was some good banter between the fans!

8/10

Would you go again to this stadium?

Yeah definately, nice modern ground

8/10

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?

One of the better Prem grounds, but needs expanding if Reading can fill it

8/10

What was the match been played: Reading v Sheffield United
Date of the Match: 20/1/2007

How Easy Was It To Find?

Incredibly easy, just turn off the M4 at junction 11 and you're there!

10/10

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free?

Pretty disappointing actually. You would've thought that since the stadium was built outside the city centre, there would've been plenty of space for parking nearby, but that wasn't the case. The closest we could get to the stadium was about 15-20 minutes walk away, and we arrived very early

4/10

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)?

It has a roof, the seating and leg room were ok. Probably up to Premiership standards. Good scoreboard as well.

7/10

Catering (Quality, price, queues)

I didn't buy anything, but the queues looked massive, and the prices looked expensive. Like most stadiums I suppose

N/A /10

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?

Theres a big retail park very close to the ground, as well as a few restaurants, but not much else.

5/10

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Condusive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere

They weren't bad, but I've heard much louder. The atmosphere was quite good because there are no gaps between the stands.

7/10

Would you go again to this stadium?Yeah, I've been a few times and its always a great day out

Date of the Match: Saturday, 18th August, 2007.

How Easy Was It To Find?

Very easy, coaches parked right outside the ground so we just wondered round the ground for a good 20 minutes and met the Reading players as they came in, boredom kicked in. 8/10.

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free?

Coach, right outside. 9/10.

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)?

Yeah, was very comfy, and a lot of room. 8/10.

Catering (Quality, price, queues)

Alright, not to bad, nothing special. 7/10.

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?

There is some places to eat right by the car park, we arrived very early so we just met the Reading players coming in. Something to do, I suppose. 7/10.

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Condusive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere?

Home fans were alright, kept singing the same songs though and a lot of empty seats. 7/10.

Would you go again to this stadium?

Yeah, even if it was shít, I'd go again - where ever Everton take me. But it was a poor modern day soulless bowl stadium, I hated it. 4/10.

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?

One tier all the way round soulless bowl stadium with a shíte atmosphere, what is there to like? Without doubt one of the dullest stadiums I've ever visited - absolute bóllocks. 4/10.

Not done one of these in a while, but since i'm bored shitless staying up all night why not?

Name: Madejski Stadium.
Capacity: 24,200.
What the match been played: Reading vs Wigan Athletic
Date of the Match: Tuesday 23rd (?) February 2007

How Easy Was It To Find?
We travelled in a mini-bus down to Reading so i didnt have to do any searching, however i do know that the ground is right next to the M4 motorway and is one of the easiest in the football league. 10/10

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free?

The Coach travelled all the way around the stadium to the away end and parked up right outside.

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)?

Stood up all match but it was still horrible on a freezing tuesday night. 10/10

Catering (Quality, price, queues)

I got a pint, but some of the lads where getting i'd'd and then a woman on a ego-trip decided to stop selling ale. Basically the poor girl serving wasn't asking for i'd but then her boss comes over "have you i'd'd him" etc.. therefore things get out of hand and lads start chucking their ale over here. It wasnt even a nice pint. 0/10 thanks to the people serving.

Stewards, Police?
The sole 6 officers had to call for back up when they seen our minibus park up along with the Arky's coach which had a lot of Characters on. I thought they'd have learnt from that game in the play-offs a couple of seasons ago. While the match was being played the stewards try and tell us all to sit down in which i reply drunkenly "Fuck off you southern cunt would you tell United fans too sit down? No would you fuck!" the lads face is a picture "well thats not the point, you have to sit down to comply..." ah fuck off so United fans can stand but because we're little wigan we cant? i nearly get ejected for my cheekiness but some smooth talking from my mates ensure i don't.

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?

Absolute garbage, grounds tend to be shit when there out of town and this one is no different being in the outback. I think there might have been a mcdonalds near though so for that alone - 2/10

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Condusive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere?

I absolutely hate Reading, not as much as Bolton or Liverpool, but definately on par with West Ham. Their fans just wind me up, stupid songs like that one to the tune of "Wigan Till I Die" and "Bloo Army" in that stupid Mockney Accent. I hope they go down! Still they made a decent amount of noise for a home side, They only allocate the away side 2,000 and even though we took 500, it's hard enough to hear any of the other teams on tv, so i doubt we made much noise despite our best efforts. 5/10

Would you go again to this stadium?

One of the few stadiums where i don't actually want to go again, but probably will because of Latics.

Overall. Out Of 10, What Do You Feel The Ground Deserves?

It's better than ours design wise, but all the other factors such as policing, stewarding, the camp reading fans and there being fuck all to do brings it down. One of my worst away trips 3/10

How Easy Was It To Find?

I don't know by car, but if you get a train to Reading Station then you can get a bus outside the station.

8/10

Car Parking. Was It near? Was It Free?

Ain't got a clue

Comfort (seating, leg room, does it have a roof etc)?

Had a roof but I was front row so I got absolutely soaked. Leg room was ok.

7/10

Catering (Quality, price, queues)

Expensive and the ques were huge. No beer at half time.

3 /10

Pubs, Things To Do Nearby. Is There Much To Do For The Early Arriver At The Site Of The Ground?

Yes straight outside Reading station there is a pub call "The Three Guineas". Amazing outside there as it is an away pub.

10/10

Atmosphere From Home Fans, How Condusive Was The Away End To Creating A Good Atmosphere

I HATE Reading fans, there support is awful! All they ever sing is those crappy plastic songs like "Der der der der der der der READING!" Only a small section of Reading fans sang.

2/10

Would you go again to this stadium? yeah it was a good day out.

The Madjeski stadium is absolutely tripe. Shite accoustics, shite views and absolutely shocking prices. The sooner Reading go down the better.

Canny pic, Kev. I was actually standing in the seat next to that woman steward on the right hand side of the fertie, she is quite possibly the most irritating person I've ever met.

The one thing I noticed about Reading, maybe because all the fans have to go the same way down that funny road, was so many fans give you the V's more than any other club. I'm no better and coz we had one, I give it more than I take it, but something I noticed.

Its just another one of those modern grounds though with no character or tradition, if it was red it could be boros. Close to the pitch which was nice, stewards a bit hitler-esque but I've had worse and nothing a "stand up if you love villa" doesn't sort out.
